Job Requirements
- bachelor’s degree in medical laboratory science or related field
- clinical laboratory scientist (CLS) or medical laboratory scientist (MLS) certification
- experience managing a clinical laboratory in an acute care hospital
- knowledge of CLIA, CAP, AABB, and Joint Commission standards
- prior leadership experience in laboratory operations
- strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- ability to mentor and lead a diverse team
- effective communication skills
- availability to work in a 24/7 acute care environment
Job Qualifications
- bachelor’s degree in medical laboratory science or related field
- certification as a clinical laboratory scientist (CLS) or medical laboratory scientist (MLS)
- proven leadership experience in an acute care laboratory setting
- strong knowledge of regulatory requirements including CLIA, CAP, AABB, and Joint Commission standards
- experience with laboratory information systems and electronic health records
- proficiency in quality control, quality assurance, and proficiency testing
- ability to lead process improvement initiatives
- excellent communication and team collaboration skills
Job Duties
- lead daily operations of the laboratory department
- manage staffing and budgeting activities
- ensure readiness for CLIA, CAP, AABB, and Joint Commission inspections
- advance quality control and quality assurance protocols
- oversee proficiency testing and antimicrobial stewardship support
- optimize workflows through Lean initiatives
- improve laboratory information system rules and reflex testing
- mentor and develop clinical laboratory scientists and support staff
- collaborate with multidisciplinary care teams including nurses and physicians
