Job Requirements

  • bachelor’s degree in medical laboratory science or related field
  • clinical laboratory scientist (CLS) or medical laboratory scientist (MLS) certification
  • experience managing a clinical laboratory in an acute care hospital
  • knowledge of CLIA, CAP, AABB, and Joint Commission standards
  • prior leadership experience in laboratory operations
  • strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • ability to mentor and lead a diverse team
  • effective communication skills
  • availability to work in a 24/7 acute care environment

Job Qualifications

  • bachelor’s degree in medical laboratory science or related field
  • certification as a clinical laboratory scientist (CLS) or medical laboratory scientist (MLS)
  • proven leadership experience in an acute care laboratory setting
  • strong knowledge of regulatory requirements including CLIA, CAP, AABB, and Joint Commission standards
  • experience with laboratory information systems and electronic health records
  • proficiency in quality control, quality assurance, and proficiency testing
  • ability to lead process improvement initiatives
  • excellent communication and team collaboration skills

Job Duties

  • lead daily operations of the laboratory department
  • manage staffing and budgeting activities
  • ensure readiness for CLIA, CAP, AABB, and Joint Commission inspections
  • advance quality control and quality assurance protocols
  • oversee proficiency testing and antimicrobial stewardship support
  • optimize workflows through Lean initiatives
  • improve laboratory information system rules and reflex testing
  • mentor and develop clinical laboratory scientists and support staff
  • collaborate with multidisciplinary care teams including nurses and physicians
