As part of the larger OU Health system, the hospital is committed to delivering comprehensive medical services while also focusing on the emotional and developmental needs of its young patients. The hospital emphasizes a family-centered approach, ensuring that children receive not only top-tier medical treatment but also compassionate care that promotes normalcy and positive coping during their hospital stay. The Child Life Program within Oklahoma Children's Hospital plays a crucial role in this holistic care model by offering creative, integrative programs aimed at enhancing the patient experience and supporting families through challenging times.

Key responsibilities include organizing hospital events, donor receptions, and patient activities that are specially tailored to meet the diverse needs of children in a healthcare setting. This role also involves coordinating volunteer-led group activities, executing daily programming within the Child Life Zone, and managing supplies and resources efficiently within departmental budgets. The Activity Specialist ensures that all events are aligned with the hospital’s mission to create a supportive environment that fosters healing and resilience.

Additionally, the role requires certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days of hire, ensuring readiness for any emergency situations.
