The position of Activity Director at Avamere Riverpark of Eugene is a full-time role centered on enhancing the quality of life for residents through innovative and well-organized recreational and social programs. The Activity Director is responsible for developing and implementing a monthly calendar of activities that cater to the interests and needs of residents while also involving families, staff, and community partners. This role demands a creative and dedicated professional who can work collaboratively across departments to integrate recreational activities within the broader care plans of residents.

In this position, the Activity Director coordinates with outside vendors and presenters to bring diverse, engaging events to the facility and participates actively in community event planning in partnership with marketing staff. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum two years of experience in activity, social or recreation programs or healthcare in long term care
  • Valid Activity Director Certification (ADC) from the NCCAP
  • Ability to read, write, speak and understand English
  • Knowledge and experience with elderly residents
  • Maintain confidentiality under HIPAA
  • Active CPR/BLS certification
  • Prefer experience in geriatric rehab, sub-acute or critical care settings

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Additional education preferred
  • Minimum two years of experience in an activities, social or recreation program or similar healthcare setting in long term care
  • Activity Director Certification (ADC) from the National Certification Council for Activities Professionals (NCCAP) and maintain certification while employed
  • Able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language
  • Knowledge and experience caring for and interacting with residents of this nature
  • Maintain confidentiality of all resident care information in accordance with HIPAA guidelines
  • Must maintain and have an active CPR/BLS certification during employment
  • Prefer experience in long term care, geriatric rehab, sub-acute or critical care clinical setting

Job Duties

  • Develop and distribute a monthly activities calendar and newsletter for residents and family members
  • Coordinate and schedule outside vendors and presenters
  • Participate in community event planning with the marketing staff
  • Make routine visits to residents
  • Ensure that all charted activity progress notes are informative and descriptive of the services provided and indicate the resident's response to the service
  • Perform administrative requirements such as completing necessary forms, reports
  • Coordinate with other departments as necessary and in conjunction with resident care plans
  • Plan, prepare and operate under the Activities budget
  • Set up, implement, and clean up resident group and individual activities
  • Participate in facility surveys by authorized government agencies
  • Create and uphold an atmosphere of warmth, patience, enthusiasm, and a calm and cheerful environment
