Job Description
California Apartments in Venice and Gibson Manor in South Los Angeles are distinguished residential communities managed by WSH Management, committed to enhancing the quality of life for their residents. These communities foster a supportive and engaging environment tailored to meet diverse needs, with a focus on wellness, social connection, and active living. Serving residents with both comfort and care, these properties emphasize community-building through various services and programs designed to promote self-enrichment, health, and a vibrant social atmosphere. Located in desirable areas of Venice and South Los Angeles, these properties offer residents a welcoming and inclusive neighborhood experience.
The role of the Activity Coordinator is pivotal in supporting the community life within both California Apartments and Gibson Manor. This full-time position involves a dynamic split of approximately 40 percent of the time spent at California Apartments in Venice and 60 percent at Gibson Manor in South Los Angeles. The primary responsibility of the Activity Coordinator is to plan, organize, and execute engaging activities that encourage resident involvement and foster a sense of belonging and well-being. By creating detailed monthly calendars and promotional flyers, the coordinator effectively communicates upcoming events to residents, boosting participation and enthusiasm. This role requires close collaboration with property management and social service teams to design activities such as Bingo, arts and crafts, chair exercises, monthly luncheons, and community workshops addressing topics like health and finance. Such programming not only encourages community involvement but also supports residents’ personal growth and wellness.
The ideal candidate for this position is highly organized, creative, and capable of managing programming across multiple sites with professionalism and enthusiasm. Essential to this role is the ability to provide leadership and assistance to residents and property staff while ensuring safety by promptly addressing any unsafe conditions. Effective communication skills including proficiency in English are necessary to interact with residents, staff, vendors, and service providers. The coordinator must maintain a positive attitude, demonstrate patience, and show adaptability by participating in training and complying with company policies as evidenced in the employee handbook. Additionally, this position involves some travel between properties, local areas, and company meetings, requiring a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
Compensation for the Activity Coordinator role ranges from $22.50 to $23.50 per hour, reflecting a competitive wage in the social and community services field. The position is structured as a full-time, 40-hour work week from Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Alongside a stable schedule, employees receive comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, vision, and life insurance, as well as a 401(k) plan with employer match. Paid time off includes vacation days and 15 paid company holidays, promoting a healthy work-life balance.
This opportunity is ideal for candidates passionate about community development, senior activities, or apartment resident engagement who are eager to make a positive impact through well-organized programming. The Activity Coordinator plays a critical role in enriching the daily lives of residents, fostering inclusivity, and enhancing community spirit within two vibrant residential properties managed by WSH Management.
