This Activity Assistant role is integral to the Activity department at Sapphire at Sheridan Assisted Living, focused on enriching the lives of residents by delivering engaging programs and meaningful experiences. The assistant supports the planning and implementation of daily activities, helping to ensure that residents have access to a wide variety of recreational options such as games, crafts, exercise classes, and music sessions. The position involves both group facilitation and one-on-one interactions, catering to the unique preferences and needs of the residents. Encouragement of resident participation, building positive relationships, and creating a vibrant community environment are key components of this role. Additionally, the Activity Assistant will escort residents, assist with mobility, and help maintain activity spaces and supplies. This position contributes to special events like holiday celebrations and community outings, further enhancing the social fabric of the living environment.
Beyond activity coordination, this role also requires observation and communication skills to notice changes in residents’ moods or behaviors and report them to the Activity Coordinator or nursing staff as appropriate. Administrative tasks including maintaining an up-to-date activity calendar and documenting resident engagement are important to the smooth operation of the department. Flexibility is essential as the assistant may support weekend, evening, or special programming and assist with volunteer activities. This role not only requires creativity, energy, and compassion but also strong communication skills and the ability to function well within a team. Sapphire Health Services offers a comprehensive benefits package including paid time off, medical, dental and vision insurance, 401(K), tuition reimbursement, and various wellness and incentive programs. This position is ideal for healthcare professionals passionate about making a positive difference in the lives of seniors within a supportive and enriching community setting.
