Job Description
Timber Ridge at Talus is a distinguished senior living community located at the base of Cougar Mountain in Issaquah, Washington. Known for its unique blend of natural beauty and sustainable design, it is the area's first Silver LEED-certified community, which speaks to its commitment to environmental stewardship and energy efficiency. This community stands out on the Eastside by offering residents a vibrant and active lifestyle, surrounded by the breathtaking scenery of the Pacific Northwest. Residents frequently enjoy outdoor activities such as hiking nearby trails and socializing over meals in a friendly, welcoming atmosphere. Timber Ridge at Talus brings together exceptional hospitality with all-inclusive services, fostering a close-knit community that values wellness, independence, and social engagement among its senior population.
The role of Activity and Event Coordinator is a pivotal position within Timber Ridge at Talus’ Community Life Services department. This full-time role, with standard working hours from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday and occasional evening and weekend commitments, offers a competitive wage of $25 to $27 per hour. As an integral part of the community, the Activity and Event Coordinator works closely with the Director to plan, implement, and oversee a wide array of recreational, educational, and social activities designed to enrich the lives of the independent living residents.
The coordinator’s primary mission is to deliver excellent customer service by prioritizing resident needs and embodying the community’s ten hospitality promises in everyday tasks. This involves organizing diverse programs and outings, managing event logistics, and producing communication materials such as newsletters, flyers, and calendars using platforms like Touch.Town and Community Apps. Strong research skills are essential for identifying appropriate courses, entertainment, and activities, as well as establishing ongoing relationships with local instructors, artists, performers, and community partners.
This role also demands technical savvy for coordinating room reservations through the Worxhub scheduling system and operating multimedia equipment during events. Collaboration is key, as the coordinator works alongside resident volunteers, liaises with Resident and Employee Committees, and partners with the Leisure Committee and Transportation Manager to facilitate outings. The position involves regular attendance at staff and resident meetings and requires maintaining detailed computer records and databases.
The position is physically active, requiring frequent walking throughout the community and the ability to lift up to 50 pounds to move furniture as needed. Candidates must have three to five years of experience in recreation and activity planning, particularly with older adults, and preferably, experience working in senior living. A bachelor’s degree is preferred but not mandatory. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and advanced computer capabilities are required, along with reliable transportation and strong English communication skills.
Timber Ridge at Talus promotes a holistic approach to wellness for both residents and employees, emphasizing emotional, environmental, health services, intellectual, physical, social, spiritual, and vocational dimensions. The community offers a comprehensive benefits package that includes medical, dental, and vision insurance, life and disability coverage, a 401(k) plan with company match, and numerous employee perks such as pet insurance, tuition reimbursement, employee discounts, and transportation assistance.
For individuals passionate about hospitality and senior engagement, this role presents a meaningful opportunity to contribute to a thriving senior living community dedicated to enhancing quality of life and fostering a supportive environment for its residents.
