Job Description
Tenderloin Housing Clinic (THC) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to addressing homelessness and housing insecurity among low-income adults, particularly those living in San Francisco's Tenderloin district. Established with a mission to provide safe and affordable housing, THC follows a "Housing First" model which prioritizes placing individuals in permanent supportive housing without preconditions such as sobriety or employment. This approach recognizes the importance of stable housing as a foundation for improving quality of life and accessing other critical services. THC manages multiple residential properties and works closely with support services and property management teams to create positive, supportive communities for its tenants. The organization embraces diversity, equity, and inclusion, striving to serve a varied population with respect and dignity while fostering community engagement and empowerment.
We are currently seeking passionate and dedicated Activities Coordinators to join our team. This is a full-time role paying $30.00 per hour and based in-person at our THC residential properties. Activities Coordinators will play a pivotal role in enriching the lives of low-income adults through the planning, organization, facilitation, and implementation of social and life skills activities and events. The goal is to foster stronger, healthier tenant communities by providing regular engaging activities that support personal development, social connections, and well-being. Coordinators will collaborate closely with Support Services and Property Management staff at each location to identify tenant needs and interests, coordinate resources, and conduct meaningful programming.
Key responsibilities include managing and maintaining a comprehensive schedule of ongoing activities, ensuring necessary supplies such as food and materials are available and delivered using THC's truck, and working within budget constraints to maximize resources. The Activities Coordinator will also serve as the primary liaison for external community partners such as the San Francisco Food Bank, engaging in partnership development to expand services available on-site. Additionally, the role involves developing and facilitating workshops in life skills, social skills, new tenant orientation, and overdose prevention, as well as leading special events like the Annual Tenant Appreciation Day. Attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment are essential.
Ideal candidates will have experience working with diverse, low-income, or formerly homeless populations and be comfortable building rapport and engaging tenants from a variety of backgrounds. A valid California Driver's License with a clean driving record is required, as is proficiency with Microsoft Office and strong written and verbal communication skills in English. Bilingual skills and experience with harm reduction models and local San Francisco resource networks are considered a plus but are not mandatory. The Activities Coordinator must exhibit professionalism, confidentiality, sound judgment, and excellent customer service in alignment with THC's mission, core values, and community-centered philosophy.
At Tenderloin Housing Clinic, employees enjoy a comprehensive benefits package that includes medical, dental, and vision insurance, life insurance, long-term disability coverage, paid vacation and sick days, paid holidays, and opportunities for professional development and retirement savings plans. THC is proud of its diverse workforce and is an Equal Opportunity Employer. The organization is committed to considering qualified applicants with criminal histories in accordance with the San Francisco Fair Chance Ordinance. This is a rewarding opportunity for those passionate about community engagement, social justice, and improving the lives of vulnerable populations through innovative supportive housing programs and activities.
