Job Description
Carmel Terrace is a faith-based, nonprofit assisted and independent senior living facility sponsored by the Carmelite Sisters. Located in Framingham, MA, on beautifully manicured lawns and gardens, Carmel Terrace provides a nurturing, caring environment that residents proudly call home. Just minutes from Route 9 with easy access to the Massachusetts Pike, this community combines a peaceful setting with convenient regional connectivity. As an organization, Carmel Terrace is dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for seniors through compassionate care and a welcoming, supportive atmosphere.
The position of Social Opportunities - Activities Assistant at Carmel Terrace is a vital role focused on enriching the lives of residents in their assisted living community. As an integral member of the Life Enrichment team, the Activities Assistant is responsible for the facilitation and implementation of diverse programs that are designed to engage residents socially and creatively. This position works specifically on weekends, from 9am to 5pm on both Saturday and Sunday, offering $16 per hour. The role is essential to fostering an active aging lifestyle and exceeding the expectations of the resident community by providing meaningful and enjoyable social opportunities.
The Social Opportunities - Activities Assistant collaborates directly with residents to create and deliver activities that reflect their interests, hobbies, and passions. Beyond leading scheduled events, this position requires active communication with residents regarding programs and assisting in the documentation of attendance to maintain accurate records. Creative and innovative approaches are encouraged to further residents’ enjoyment and self-expression through their favorite pastimes or through learning new skills.
Involved also in supporting liturgical and spiritual programs provided by the residence, this role demands a compassionate and positive individual who can radiate enthusiasm and create reasons for celebration every day. The position also includes elements of event planning, which although not mandatory, is viewed as a valuable asset. Candidates with experience in long-term care environments will be preferred due to the specialized nature of senior living services.
Carmel Terrace prides itself on being an employer that values its team members by offering competitive compensation along with next-day pay options for financial flexibility. Additional benefits include student loan forgiveness guidance and access to an Employee Assistance Program with discount marketplace options. The work environment is compassionate and supportive, aspiring to create a workplace where employees are respected, fairly compensated, and equipped to succeed.
Joining Carmel Terrace means becoming part of a community where "The Difference is Love". The organization maintains strict compliance with equal opportunity employment laws and prohibits any form of discrimination against applicants or employees. At Carmel Terrace, the commitment to providing a nurturing environment extends both to the residents and to the dedicated staff who serve them. This position is an excellent opportunity for individuals devoted to making a meaningful difference in the lives of seniors through social engagement and life enrichment activities.
