Key responsibilities include creating an accessible and appealing calendar of events, assisting in planning fundraising events for the Activity Department, recording detailed participation and progress notes, and coordinating volunteer programs involving residents, families, and local organizations. The role also encompasses assisting residents with the Resident Council to provide them with a voice and ensure their concerns are addressed promptly. Training volunteers and students, maintaining confidentiality, and adhering to safety protocols such as Standard Precautions and Fire Drill Procedures are also essential functions.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • prior experience in a similar role preferred
  • ability to work collaboratively with staff and community members

  • good communication skills
  • basic computer proficiency for record keeping
  • physically able to assist with activity setup and resident support
  • knowledge of regulatory requirements related to activity programs

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Assist the activity coordinator in developing organizing and implementing programs of activities to meet residents' social emotional physical and therapeutic needs
  • initiate and promote activities both within and outside the facility ensuring safety and well-being of residents
  • coordinate and verify assistance provided to residents for activities and events
  • create an ongoing calendar of activities accessible and appealing to all residents
  • maintain standards for activity scheduling and documentation in line with policies and regulatory requirements
  • solicit community involvement when planning activities and events
  • plan organize and direct activity department fundraising events
  • maintain detailed records of activity programs and resident participation
  • participate in resident care planning by identifying activity needs
  • develop and distribute monthly calendar of events
  • maintain pictorial scrapbook of activities and events
  • develop and maintain active volunteer program including training and rewarding volunteers
  • prepare progress notes for medical staff on residents' reactions and progress
  • maintain all required activity related records
  • assist residents with organizing and maintaining active Resident Council
  • attend in-service education programs
  • be familiar with standard precautions exposure control plan and fire drill procedures
  • maintain confidentiality of resident and facility records
  • protect residents from neglect mistreatment and abuse
  • protect personal property of residents
  • perform other duties as directed by supervisor or administrator
