Job Requirements

  • must be able to work flexible shifts according to the needs of the assignments and/or catering or banquet functions
  • must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
  • reaching/bending frequently
  • good speech and hearing necessary for communicating with other employees, managers, and the public
  • action-oriented (exercising initiative to follow-up and follow through)
  • detail-oriented
  • reading, writing, and oral proficiency in the english language required
  • must pass drug screening test and physical exam
  • must have passed a tb test within 5 years of start date with skin test or chest x-ray
  • must have valid current hawaii state driver's license and clean driver’s abstract

Job Qualifications

  • prior culinary experience and/or education required
  • good verbal and written communication skills
  • good interpersonal skills
  • ability to interact on a professional level with clients
  • ability to problem solve
  • ability to supervise others in a positive and professional manner
  • high school diploma or equivalent preferred

Job Duties

  • prepares for the day by gathering all items necessary for cooking food products in large quantities
  • cooks menu items in accordance with prescribed recipes
  • assists chef to maintain inventory for goods in chill, freezer and dry/canned goods on a weekly basis
  • assists with packing and wrapping of cooked items for each event with proper color codes
  • assists with maintenance and cleanliness of the kitchen on a daily basis
  • puts all equipment away in their proper place
  • performs other duties as assigned
