The Accounting Manager position at The Benson Hotel & Faculty Club plays a crucial role in maintaining and overseeing the financial integrity of the property. This full-time, salaried role offers a compensation range of USD $70,000 to $75,000 per year. The Accounting Manager will assist with supervising and coordinating all accounting operations within the hotel, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting. The role encompasses a variety of accounting functions, including payroll, accounts receivable and payable, income journaling, general cashiering, tax matters, and internal controls. Additionally, the incumbent may be responsible for managing specific operational areas such as credit management, food and beverage controls, and accounts receivable.
This position requires the individual to compile, review, reconcile, and analyze financial data to support bookkeeping functions and facilitate sound financial decision-making. The Accounting Manager also assists in preparing financial statements and reports that provide vital information for management. The role demands a proactive approach, encouraging recommendations for improving financial controls, reporting any procedural violations, and ensuring compliance with established standard operating procedures (SOPs).

Job Requirements
- Four-year college degree or equivalent education/experience
- One to two years related work experience
- Proficiency in accounting principles and hospitality financial practices
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to train and supervise staff
- Ability to handle physical demands such as lifting up to 15-20 lbs and limited bending
- Willingness to work indoors and adapt to a collaborative work environment
Job Qualifications
- A four-year college degree (accounting preferred) or equivalent education/experience
- One to two years of employment in a related position
- Advanced knowledge of finance and hospitality industry accounting principles and practices
- Ability to investigate and analyze activities and data to make logical conclusions and recommendations
- Excellent hearing, vision, speech communication skills
- Strong literacy and comprehension for reading reports, computers, and ledgers
Job Duties
- Prepare, review and reconcile daily postings, accruals, various general ledger accounts and bank statements to ensure accurate financial information is available
- Compile, prepare, back-up and analyze period-end data on food and beverage costs and inventories to provide information and recommendations to management on current procedures and controls
- Assist with the preparation of cost potentials as required
- Supervise the accounts receivable function and perform the hotel's credit/collection and food and beverage control function to ensure accurate, timely and quality service and support to hotel customers and management
- Review and monitor internal control procedures in the hotel including food and beverage, cashiering, room operations
- Resolve problems and assist with the training of hotel employees on cash procedures and inventory controls
- Perform other duties as assigned by management
