The position available is for a Janitorial Supervisor responsible for managing and supervising janitorial staff at a designated location. This role demands strong leadership and operational management skills to ensure the delivery of high-quality cleaning and maintenance services that meet or exceed client expectations. The position offers an hourly pay rate of $23.37; final compensation varies with experience, skills, geographic location, and alignment with market standards.

In this role, the Janitorial Supervisor will be the main point of contact for client liaisons, establishing and maintaining strong client relationships through a positive customer service orientation. Regular communication with clients is essential to confirm that quality standards are met and service concerns are addressed promptly. The supervisor will also be responsible for scheduling work shifts, providing leadership support across all operations, including emergency and off-hour scenarios, and cultivating a strong safety culture by training staff to use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and follow safe work practices.

Additional key responsibilities include training staff on standard and specialized cleaning protocols, building security procedures, proper use and storage of cleaning products in compliance with OSHA regulations and SDS sheets, and safe operation of cleaning equipment like buffers and scrubbers. The supervisor will manage and monitor the janitorial and porter staff’s attendance and performance, ensuring adherence to company policies and schedules. This position encourages proactive identification of opportunities to grow revenue by introducing billable projects to new or existing clients.

The successful candidate will be expected to handle confidential information discreetly, maintain accurate and detail-oriented records, demonstrate excellent organizational and multitasking abilities, and effectively communicate with staff and clients alike, including delivering presentations to various group sizes. A valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record is mandatory to operate company vehicles for transportation to job sites.

Job Duties

  • Establish and maintain strong client relationships with a positive customer service orientation
  • Serve as main point-of-contact for client liaisons, meeting regularly to confirm quality standards are met and service issues are promptly resolved
  • Provide leadership and support while being available for emergency and off-hour support
  • Promote strong safety culture and work environment
  • train staff to utilize Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and follow safe movement practices
  • Plan and assign work schedules to ensure service delivery expectations are achieved
  • Ensure timely responses to client-reported emergency cleaning situations
  • Train staff on building and property security protocols at each assigned client location
  • Train staff on ABM standard cleaning methods and any non-standard cleaning protocols contracted for specific clients
  • Train staff to ensure cleaning supplies/chemicals are appropriately utilized and properly stored, whether in a standard or green-cleaning environment
  • Maintain SDS sheet and OSHA requirements
  • Train staff on safe operation of all cleaning equipment (buffers, scrubbers, etc.)
  • Train and manage site janitorial and porter staff
  • Continuously monitor employee timekeeping entries, looking for adherence to assigned work schedules and company policy
  • Look for opportunities to increase revenue by providing additional billable project work to new clients and/or existing base of clients
  • Arrange for staff substitutions or personally perform work where employee absences could impact timely completion of contracted work
