Job Description
California Surveying & Drafting Supply (CSDS) is a well-established company dedicated to helping clients capture, transform, and manage data to improve efficiency and profitability in their operations. Specializing in geospatial, construction, and design data technology, CSDS accelerates the adoption of advanced technology solutions designed to streamline workflows from field data collection through to final project delivery. The company prides itself on delivering industry-leading solutions, exceptional client service, and expert insights that not only transform client capabilities but also foster professional growth for its employees. Known for its integrity and innovation, CSDS operates primarily in Southern California, serving a diverse clientele including land surveyors, civil engineers, construction firms, and GIS professionals.
The current opportunity is for the role of an Account Manager specializing in Survey and Geospatial Equipment Sales, focused on the West Los Angeles County region. This is a full-time, permanent position offering remote work flexibility while requiring regular in-person client visits across a designated territory that includes West Los Angeles County, Ventura, Santa Barbara counties, and the Antelope Valley. Candidates ideally reside in the San Fernando Valley area to facilitate efficient travel and prompt client support.
In this role, the Account Manager will be tasked with demonstrating, promoting, and selling high-end land surveying hardware and software solutions. Success in this role demands a proven track record in complex solution sales, with responsibilities including identifying and developing key vertical markets, actively generating leads, and building strong, long-lasting relationships with key end users. The position requires the ability to deliver compelling technical sales presentations that clearly communicate the return on investment and financial benefits of the Trimble surveying product portfolio.
The company emphasizes a consultative selling approach where understanding client needs and offering tailored, value-driven solutions is critical. The Account Manager's role is vital in bridging client requirements with technology innovations, attending industry tradeshows and events to remain current with market trends and competitor activity. Extensive travel within the assigned territory is expected to maintain close customer contact and ensure timely service and support.
Candidates should possess knowledge of land surveying, engineering, laser scanning, photogrammetry, aerial technologies, and other geospatial fields, although this is not a strict requirement. Strong direct sales skills, a proven history of meeting or exceeding targets, and the ability to articulate financial benefits and ROI are essential. Experience in sales within GIS, civil engineering, land surveying, aerial mapping, infrastructure, or construction-related fields is preferred, alongside relevant educational backgrounds such as civil engineering, geography, business, finance, or economics. Leadership in business planning and excellent presentation skills are also valued.
CSDS offers a competitive salary commensurate with experience plus a generous sales commission structure with on-target earnings of approximately $120,000 annually. The company provides a comprehensive benefits package including ESOP stock options, a guaranteed company 401k contribution, vacation and sick leave, paid holidays, company vehicle and fuel card, and fully paid medical and dental insurance with minimal employee contributions. This role represents a unique opportunity for an ambitious sales professional to join a leading geospatial solutions provider in a dynamic and evolving industry, championing cutting-edge technology and solidifying client partnerships across Southern California.
