The role of Account Manager at LGC Standards is strategic and pivotal for expanding the company's presence within the Reference Materials and Analytical Standards product lines. This position focuses on cultivating strong relationships with key internal stakeholders and external clients while driving the growth of business revenue within designated territories, particularly across California, Oregon, and Nevada. The Account Manager will be responsible for managing all assigned commercial accounts and strategic site-level locations such as regional laboratories for multinational corporations, representing the full LGC Standards portfolio across diverse end-markets including Pharma, Biotech, and Environmental sectors. This role involves identifying and closing new business opportunities originating from self-generated leads or marketing efforts, coordinating with specialized LGC team members to optimize service delivery and customer experience, and collaborating with strategic account managers on planning and customer reviews for selected accounts.

Additionally, the Account Manager will use sales tools to manage pipelines, forecasts, and accounts efficiently, and develop a comprehensive understanding of key LGC products and their practical applications. Meeting and exceeding sales targets is a critical part of the role. Regular customer engagement through various communication channels is essential to qualify leads, convert prospects, follow up on quotations, and continuously grow sales while maintaining up-to-date customer information in the CRM systems. This role also entails increasing market awareness of the LGC Standards brand by organizing and participating in exhibitions, seminars, and industry events, acting as a company representative throughout working hours. The position demands a dynamic, results-driven individual who thrives in a technical sales environment and is willing to travel up to 50% within the assigned states. The salary range for this role is competitive, starting from USD 95,000 to USD 107,000 per year, dependent on factors such as experience, skills, and location within the sales geography.

Job Requirements

  • B.S. in chemistry, physics, biochemistry, biology, or equivalent
  • At least 5 years of experience selling technical products used in research laboratories
  • Prior successful key account management experience with central procurement preferred
  • Ability to read and interpret RFQs, contracts, and manuals
  • Experience with CRM platforms like Salesforce and Desk
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Outstanding commercial awareness and planning skills
  • Proven sales target achievement
  • English fluency
  • Willingness to travel up to 50% within territory CA, OR, NV

Job Qualifications

  • Proven track record of meeting and exceeding sales targets
  • Fluency in English
  • Fluency or proficiency in additional languages is an advantage

Job Duties

  • Own all assigned commercial accounts and strategic site-level locations, representing the entire LGC Standards portfolio across all end-markets
  • Identify and close new opportunities from self-generated leads or marketing qualified leads
  • Involve additional LGC Standards team members to best service customer needs and achieve high customer experience
  • Collaborate with strategic account managers for planning and customer reviews at specific strategic accounts
  • Use sales tools to manage prospects, accounts, opportunities, pipeline, and sales forecasts accurately and timely
  • Develop in-depth understanding of key LGC products and their applications
  • Meet and exceed assigned sales targets
  • Engage actively with customers via email, phone, and in-person visits to qualify leads, convert prospects, follow up on quotations, and drive new sales
  • Maintain CRM with up-to-date customer information
  • Increase LGC Standards brand awareness by organizing and attending exhibitions, seminars, and events
  • Serve as a company representative during working hours
