The role available is for an assistant to the Director of Finance, a critical position responsible for overseeing the financial activities of the hotel. The position requires safeguarding the hotel’s assets and preparing financial reports in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles and HEI Hotels and Resorts standards. This role is essential in ensuring the financial integrity and operational efficiency of the hotel’s accounting functions. This full-time position offers a salary range of $70,000 to $80,000 annually and is not eligible for tips, service charge, or discretionary performance bonuses.
Key responsibilities of this role include assisting with all accounting functions when necessary, effectively managing controllable departmental expenditures, and overseeing the scheduling and evaluation of accounting staff, including the Night Audit team. The assistant will also support the preparation of financial statements within designated timeframes, verify compliance with finance standard operating procedures, and participate in asset inventories and record retention in compliance with government regulations.
Additional duties involve managing accounts receivable functions, ensuring timely cash deposits, reconciling balance sheet accounts, and addressing any discrepancies in coordination with the Director of Finance. The role also involves management responsibilities such as attracting and training management candidates, maintaining attendance compliance, and performing other job-related duties as assigned.
The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and at least one year of experience in hotel or hospitality finance and accounting. They should possess strong knowledge of hotel financial statements, analytical skills with attention to detail, proficient administrative and managerial capabilities, as well as advanced Microsoft Office and Excel skills. Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to adapt communication styles to various audiences are also essential.
