The role of Account Development Specialist is a highly strategic sales position within Breakthru Beverage Group's Sales department, focused on the Virginia Beach territory. This full-time position involves managing the Tito's portfolio, a premium vodka brand, with a primary goal of increasing market share and sales velocity through well-planned brand activation and sales strategies. The specialist acts as the key sales lead and trusted advisor to client accounts, developing strong and lasting relationships with key stakeholders to ensure alignment and growth of the assigned commodity.
The Account Development Specialist spends approximately 80 percent of their time engaging directly in the market, working closely with both on-premise and retail sales teams to develop creative strategies that effectively drive category growth. This role demands a blend of expert product knowledge, strategic planning, and hands-on execution of marketing and sales initiatives. The specialist will also take part in organizing high-end consumer events, delivering training sessions to sales teams and partners, and conducting comprehensive industry research to stay ahead of market trends.
Strong emphasis is placed on effective communication, data-driven decision-making, and the ability to analyze market insights to boost sales performance. Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent training and work experience
- Minimum of 3-5 years in sales or industry related and category expertise experience
- CSS Certification or WSET Spirits level 2 or category specific certifications
- Specialized knowledge of category or responsibility
- Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to operate a motor vehicle
- Proficient PC skills using MS Office and presentation software
- Must be a results-oriented professional with strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to multi-task, work independently or within a team, pay attention to detail and meet deadlines
- Analytic and reporting skills
- Utilize sound judgment and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume team environment.
Job Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent training and work experience
- 3-5 years sales or industry related experience with category expertise
- CSS Certification or WSET Spirits level 2 or category specific certifications (Whiskey, Tequila, Sake, Beer)
- Fine Wine Accreditation preferably WSET Level 2 or similar
- Specialized knowledge of category or responsibility
- Valid driver’s license and ability to operate a motor vehicle
- Proficient with MS Office and presentation software
- Results-oriented with strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to multi-task, work independently or in a team, pay attention to detail, and meet deadlines
- Analytic and reporting skills
- Sound judgment and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
- Preferred experience in on-premise hospitality
- Strong understanding of consumer engagement mechanics
- For spirits specialty, experience managing a beverage program or bartending/mixology
- Experience with cocktail costing, inventory, menu creation, P&L analysis, budgeting, batching, staff training
- Knowledge of elevated-execution beverage techniques
- For wine specialty, experience with wine suppliers and in-depth knowledge of wine styles, regions, grapes, and flavor profiles.
Job Duties
- Drive and deliver on revenue and market share of assigned portfolio spending 80 percent of working time in market
- Serve as expert and resource for division in developing beverage and marketing strategies
- Research trends, category, and portfolio to meet supplier goals
- Present new products and conduct monthly business reviews
- Plan high-end consumer activations within key accounts
- Drive real-time market insights to accelerate growth
- Lead reporting and intel gathering for assigned territory and categories
- Collaborate with on-premise and retail sales teams to develop creative business solutions
- Develop and deliver training modules on sales trends
- Establish merchandising objectives and define POS needs
- Increase share and velocity of assigned category
- Own account plan and execution based on brand plans
- Obtain appropriate distribution through product presentation and beverage menu development
- Conduct staff education and build category
- Maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders
- Participate in supplier and category specific sales calls
- Attend educational workshops and establish networks
- Obtain advanced brand certifications
- Maintain confidentiality and safety compliance
- Drive market share in retail or on-premise accounts through strategic facings and menu placements
- Handle beverage alcohol responsibly
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
