The role available at ResCare Community Living is a direct support professional position, offered as a non-exempt, full-time or part-time, hourly opportunity. In this crucial role, the employee will provide direct support within a single program or unit typically supporting 4 to 6 individuals in residential settings or up to 10 individuals in periodic programs. The responsibilities not only involve assisting with daily living activities but also ensuring that the personal, social, and health needs of the individuals are met following their individual service plans.

Key responsibilities will include delivering support in socialization, health maintenance, medication administration, and skill or behavioral development. The role requires assisting with personal care, housekeeping, recreational activities, transportation, community integration, shopping, citizenship, and managing activities of daily living. The direct support professional will also maintain accurate documentation, observe confidentiality standards, and foster healthy, professional relationships with individuals, their families, guardians, and case managers.

Additional duties involve reporting any incidents of abuse or neglect, promoting individual rights, handling medical appointments and medications, ensuring proper use of medical supplies and equipment, and preparing meals following special dietary needs when applicable. The professional will participate in ongoing training and staff meetings and will be responsible for maintaining workplace safety, performing minor maintenance tasks, and safely transporting individuals in the community where needed.

This position does not include supervisory responsibilities but requires a committed attitude toward teamwork, punctuality, and adherence to safety protocols. The work environment spans program locations and community settings, blending direct program engagement with community involvement that supports social and independent living skills.

To succeed in this role, candidates should have at least a high school diploma or equivalent, with six months of experience in human services being preferred. Candidates must be 18 years or older, have a valid driver's license, and comply with state-mandated training and certifications. The role also demands physical capability to perform heavy work occasionally, emphasizing the need for fitness to assist safely with the individuals they serve.
