A220 Flight Line Mechanic (Contract)

Airbus Americas, Inc. operates the Airbus U.S. Manufacturing Facility located in Mobile, Alabama. The role of Flightline Mechanic A220 at Airbus U.S. Manufacturing Facility is a critical position that supports the final stages of aircraft assembly and delivery. The Flightline Mechanic is responsible for executing Functional Test Procedures (FTP), and performing pre-flight and post-flight inspections on aircraft to certify test flight readiness and overall delivery standards. The role demands proficiency in operating, testing, troubleshooting, repairing, and inspecting complex aircraft systems by using approved aviation data and technical documentation such as manuals, engineering drawings, and schematics. This position requires the mechanic to manage meticulous maintenance schedules and operate specialized test equipment and tools efficiently.

Working within this role involves handling various systems on the aircraft, including hydraulics, pneumatics, engines, landing gear, flight controls, and cabin interiors. The Flightline Mechanic is expected to troubleshoot malfunctions, conduct routine and preventive maintenance, prepare necessary documentation following company policies, and contribute actively to continuous process improvement initiatives such as root cause analysis, 5S, SQCDP projects, and tool management.

In addition to technical skills, communication and teamwork are essential to succeed in this role. The Flightline Mechanic must maintain close collaboration with leads and peers, possess the ability to interpret and apply written and spoken instructions, and support the training of other technicians. This position requires a high level of safety compliance, understanding of OSHA regulations, and the ability to work under varying environmental conditions, including confined spaces and elevated areas.

Candidates for this role must have a minimum of three years’ experience in aviation, preferably within a manufacturing or repair environment, hold a valid Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) license, and be willing to work rotating shifts including evenings, weekends, and holidays. A high school diploma or vocational technical school credential is required, along with valid driver's license and the ability to obtain a passport for travel as needed.
