Job Requirements
- Military enlistment in the Army National Guard
- Must be at least a junior in high school, or have a high school diploma or a GED certificate
- Must be between the ages of 17 and 35
- Must be able to pass a physical exam and meet legal and moral standards
- Must meet citizenship requirements
Job Qualifications
- Interest in cooking, home economics, health, mathematics, accounting and chemistry
- Ability to follow Army recipes and dietary guidelines
- Experience or willingness to learn culinary techniques
- Strong attention to detail in food safety and sanitation
- Basic knowledge of inventory and supply management
- Ability to work well in team environments
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
Job Duties
- Bake, fry, braise, boil, simmer, steam and saute as prescribed by Army recipes
- Operate, maintain and clean field kitchen equipment
- Perform preventive maintenance on garrison and field kitchen equipment
- Plan and prepare menus based on standard and dietetic requirements
- Order and manage food and supply inventory
- Store meats, poultry and other perishable items correctly
- Ensure food safety and facility sanitation standards are met
