The position of Secondary Business, Computer, and Information Technology Teacher at Carlynton School District is a full-time, exempt role that reports directly to the Building Principal. This role requires a BCIT-certified educator to teach a range of business, computer, and information technology courses designed to prepare students for the evolving technological landscape and business environment. The teacher will deliver instruction in key areas such as computer software applications, business-related and industry-specific software, and emerging technologies. Specific course content includes keyboarding, word processing, information processing, database applications, spreadsheet manipulation, desktop publishing, multimedia, web-page design, business programming, operating systems, hardware and software applications, and related business topics.

Beyond technical skills, this role encompasses teaching courses in entrepreneurship, international business, accounting, banking and finance, marketing, management, economics, consumer economics, personal finance, small business management, electronic commerce, business law, sales, contracts, insurance, and business communication. The educator plays a critical role in integrating project-based learning, digital citizenship, ethical technology use, and workforce readiness into the curriculum. The position demands the development of engaging, differentiated instruction to meet the diverse needs of students with varying technology skills, emphasizing financial literacy and career exploration.

Responsibilities extend to classroom environment management, ensuring a safe, organized, and technology-enriched setting that promotes responsible use of technology and adherence to district policies. The teacher will also supervise students during computer use and maintain instructional technology and software in the classroom. Assessment duties include designing and implementing curriculum-aligned evaluations, analyzing student performance data, maintaining accurate records, and providing constructive feedback to support academic and career readiness.

Collaboration with colleagues, administrators, counselors, and community partners is essential to support student achievement and program enhancements. The teacher is expected to remain current with industry trends, instructional best practices, and participate in ongoing professional development related to BCIT education and workforce readiness. Effective communication with students, families, and stakeholders is paramount, and compliance with district policies and state and federal regulations is required.

Job Requirements

  • Valid Pennsylvania certification as a Business/Computer and Information Technology, PK-12
  • Must have a valid driver’s license
  • Must submit all required clearances including arrest/conviction report, criminal record check, child abuse history check, FBI criminal history check, and mandated reporter training
  • Ability to traverse throughout school buildings and district facilities
  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time
  • Ability to lift, move, or transport materials and equipment weighing up to 30 pounds
  • Manual dexterity sufficient to operate office equipment and computer technology
  • Ability to perform repetitive hand and finger movements related to keyboard and computer use
  • Compliance with district policies, administrative regulations, and state/federal requirements
  • Work year, schedule, salary, and benefits as per the collective bargaining agreement

Job Qualifications

  • Valid Pennsylvania certification as a Business/Computer and Information Technology, PK-12
  • Demonstrated proficiency in computer and technology skills related to data collection, record maintenance, communication, and office operations
