Job Description
Airlite Plastics is a premier, privately held, family-owned manufacturer headquartered in Omaha, Nebraska. Known for its family style and personal culture, Airlite offers an exceptional workplace environment where employees can grow and build successful careers. The company’s core values—unquestionable integrity, respect, and appreciation for each other—are the foundation of its ongoing success. These values not only foster a positive and collaborative atmosphere but also help Airlite maintain a competitive edge by delivering innovative products and sustainable solutions to its customers. Airlite’s commitment to these principles has led to industry recognition and a loyal customer base.
Airlite specializes in the production of rigid plastic containers and lids used primarily for food packaging and cosmetics, dry powder scoops, plastic drink cups, shipping containers, industrial-strength insulated concrete forms (ICF), and sustainable permeable paving systems. As a pioneer in sustainable plastics manufacturing, Airlite continually strives to improve efficiency and quality, aligning with its customers' growing demand for sustainability and high performance. The company's award-winning products stand as a testament to its dedication to quality and innovation.
The current opportunity is based within the Airlite Pennsylvania team, located in Nazareth, PA. The company is looking for an Inspector Packer who will be a critical part of its continued growth and operational success. This full-time position focuses on inspecting and packing manufactured products, ensuring that items meet strict quality standards and that packaging is handled correctly to maintain product integrity during shipping.
The Inspector Packer role involves numerous responsibilities including gathering and preparing packaging materials such as shipping containers, liners, tape, stickers, and dividers. Candidates will assemble and tape boxes and trays, line and prepare boxes for packaging, and pack finished products according to the company's precise packaging and handling requirements. The role demands careful visual inspection of the products to ensure compliance with color, size, configuration, data, and lamination standards, rejecting any products that fail to meet quality requirements and escalating issues to the appropriate personnel.
Moreover, the role requires placing approved products into boxes, sealing those boxes, palletizing shipments, and labeling cases correctly. Effective communication with supervisors and relevant departments is essential to relay equipment status and production needs, along with maintaining accurate records in computer logs related to inspections, scrap barrels, and product status. The role also upholds stringent standards around safety, housekeeping, performance, attendance, and reporting of food safety issues.
The physical demands of the role involve frequent standing, walking, and manual dexterity to operate equipment, along with occasional climbing, stooping, squatting, and lifting of weights up to 42 pounds. Given the manufacturing environment, the employee may be exposed to moving parts, potential electrical risks, noise, and hazardous materials such as industrial chemicals. Airlite ensures safety through clearly posted Safety Data Sheets and accommodates individuals with disabilities where possible.
Airlite values employees who demonstrate strong problem-solving skills, organizational abilities, flexibility, high ethical standards, detail orientation, teamwork, adaptability to ambiguous situations, and commitment to regular attendance. The company encourages taking initiative while supporting a cooperative workplace culture.
In return, Airlite offers a comprehensive benefits package to its full-time employees, including health, dental, and vision insurance; company-paid life insurance; company-paid short-term disability; a generous 401k match; ample time off; and various annual company activities that foster team spirit and work-life balance. This role provides an excellent opportunity to join a forward-thinking company deeply committed to sustainability, innovation, and its employees' personal and professional growth.
