Job Requirements
- At least one year of practical cooking experience in a hotel, restaurant, or busy catering setting
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Ability to work varied shifts including mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, and extra hours
- Ability to lift, push, pull, or move objects weighing up to 50 pounds safely
- Willingness to comply with Transport Canada Security Clearance requirements
- Good organizational and time management skills
- Flexibility to work in a fast-paced, high-volume kitchen environment
Job Qualifications
- At least one year of practical experience cooking in a hotel, restaurant, or busy catering setting
- A high school diploma or its equivalent
- Culinary degree or certification in cooking is advantageous
- Red Seal certification is recommended but not mandatory
- Capability to acquire and uphold Transport Canada Security Clearance
- Proficient organizational and time management abilities
- Ability to adhere to designated work hours including mornings, mid-days, evenings, late nights, weekends, public holidays, and extra hours as needed
Job Duties
- Follow instructions to create both warm and chilled dishes as per prescribed recipes, serving sizes, and traveler preferences
- Practice safe handling of different kitchen appliances like ovens, fryers, steam kettles, charbroilers, flat top stoves, and gas ranges
- Reduce the amount of food wasted by optimizing the utilization of raw ingredients
- Always uphold uniformity in the quality and visual appeal of food offerings
- Adhere to the safety, cleanliness, and food preparation protocols specified by Gategroup's regulations and client directives
- Efficiently handle time and organize tasks in a busy kitchen setting
- Collaborate effectively with colleagues and other divisions to promote seamless functioning
- Execute extra tasks as required by supervisors to assist with kitchen functions
