With an impressive heritage spanning more than seventy years, Gate Gourmet services around 250 airlines across 30 countries, setting the standard in delivering exceptional culinary experiences alongside rigorous food safety and operational efficiency. Known for blending culinary excellence with precise adherence to safety protocols, Gategroup has cemented its reputation within the airline catering industry as a trusted and innovative provider committed to enhancing the passenger experience through quality food and dependable service.
The role of 2nd Cook at Gategroup plays an essential part within the high-speed environment of airline catering, where efficiency and quality are paramount. This position directly involves preparing both warm and chilled dishes that meet the detailed specifications provided by menu guidelines, recipes, passenger volumes, and customer preferences. The 2nd Cook works with various kitchen appliances such as ovens, fryers, steam kettles, charbroilers, flat-top stoves, and gas ranges to ensure each dish is prepared safely, consistently, and with great attention to presentation and taste.
Working at Gategroup as a 2nd Cook means operating under strict food safety regulatory standards and company policies to maintain the highest levels of sanitation, cleanliness, and food preparation protocols. The role requires excellent time management skills to handle a busy kitchen environment efficiently and the ability to collaborate closely with team members across different divisions to ensure operational excellence. Beyond cooking, the 2nd Cook is expected to minimize food wastage through the optimized use of raw ingredients, reflecting a commitment to sustainability and cost-effectiveness. Furthermore, the position demands a flexible approach to work schedules, accommodating mornings, evenings, late nights, weekends, public holidays, and additional hours as needed, all to meet the dynamic demands of airline services.
Gategroup offers competitive compensation for the 2nd Cook role, with hourly wages ranging between $24.35 and $30.05 depending on experience, plus eligible overtime pay. Employees benefit from comprehensive healthcare packages including medical, dental, and vision coverage, pension plan enrollment, reduced-cost meals, and additional wellness and employee assistance programs designed to support their overall health and wellbeing. On-site parking and a relaxed dress code contribute to a positive working environment, while ongoing training opportunities enable skill enhancement and career development within the hospitality and catering sector.
In essence, the 2nd Cook is a pivotal member of the culinary team at Gategroup, contributing to the delivery of world-class meals that define the airline's customer service experience. This role suits individuals who possess a passion for cooking under pressure, a strong adherence to food safety standards, and a dedication to teamwork. It offers a meaningful opportunity to join a globally recognized company that values professionalism, innovation, and sustained excellence in airline catering services.
