The role of Group Sales Manager at Cotton Court Hotel is vital to the continued growth and success of the property. This leadership position reports directly to the Director of Sales and Marketing and is designed for a strategic, motivated individual who possesses a proven track record in sales leadership within the hospitality industry. The Group Sales Manager will primarily focus on developing and implementing comprehensive sales strategies that drive revenue generation by expanding the hotel’s client base in corporate, social bookings, and travel agency markets.

In this role, you will be responsible for identifying and pursuing new business opportunities through various channels including prospecting, cold calling, networking, and participating in industry events. Building and maintaining lasting relationships with corporate clients, travel agencies, event planners, and key stakeholders is critical to sustaining revenue growth and elevating customer satisfaction. Leading negotiations and contract discussions to secure profitable group bookings requires excellent communication, presentation, and organizational skills.

Your responsibilities will also include managing group inventory, overseeing contract cut-off dates, and coordinating cross-sell opportunities within the portfolio to maximize room, food, and beverage revenues. You will work collaboratively with the revenue management team to meet room night goals and will regularly prepare and present sales reports and forecasts to senior management. Active participation in sales meetings and adherence to hotel credit and audit procedures are essential aspects of this position.

The successful candidate will embody a pro-active, self-starting attitude with the ability to work independently while nurturing a positive team environment. This role requires a high level of attention to detail, the ability to adapt quickly to a fast-paced environment, and strong leadership and managerial skills to foster teamwork within the sales department and across other hotel functions. Furthermore, you will be involved in community engagement to enhance client solicitation efforts and support local relationships that benefit the hotel’s reputation and business development.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in sales
  • Knowledge of hospitality sales principles and procedures
  • Proactive and self-motivated
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficiency in sales and property management software
  • Availability to travel regionally and nationally
  • Willingness to work some nights and weekends

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum of 3 plus years experience in sales
  • Independent hotel experience preferred
  • Knowledge of the principles, procedures, and best practices in the hospitality sales industry
  • Proactive, self-starter able to work independently and in a team environment
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and presentation skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities
  • Proficiency in sales software (Delphi), property management software (PMS), and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Able to travel regionally and nationally as required
  • Must be available to work some nights and weekends

Job Duties

  • Develop and execute comprehensive sales strategies to achieve revenue goals and increase market share

  • Manage group inventory and cut-off dates according to contracts
