Job Description

Wolfoods, Inc. is a pioneering company dedicated to revolutionizing the culinary experience within summer camps across the United States. Unlike typical camp food services that often rely on pre-made, freezer-to-table meals, Wolfoods champions home-style scratch cooking, ensuring that every meal served is fresh, nutritious, and delicious. Specializing in summer camp kitchens and dining halls, Wolfoods partners with camps committed to promoting healthy lifestyles and green initiatives, delivering a diverse menu that satisfies a wide range of tastes and dietary needs. Their culinary philosophy emphasizes balanced diets, cultural exploration through cuisine, and exceptional food quality, with freshly baked goods prepared by professional bakers in camp bakeries and thoughtfully crafted meal options like Morning Fruit and Yogurt Bars as well as Salad Bars at lunch and dinner.

The company is currently seeking skilled and motivated Special Diets (Allergen) Chefs / Sous Chefs to join their summer kitchen operations, which run from May through September. This is a seasonal employment opportunity designed for individuals passionate about high-volume food production and specialized diet management. The role is hands-on and demanding, requiring culinary professionals to live on-site at camp locations, often in rural or rustic environments. Wolfoods provides room, board, and travel assistance to support staff throughout the season.

The Special Diets Chef / Sous Chef position requires a thorough mastery of Wolfoods’ Camp Food Service Program, with a particular focus on special diet and allergen-sensitive food preparation. Candidates must possess in-depth knowledge of food allergens and the ability to craft meals that accommodate a wide range of dietary restrictions, including gluten-free, vegan, kosher, nut-free, and other combinations. Precision in recipe execution, careful planning, and vigilant adherence to sanitation standards are crucial to prevent cross-contamination and ensure guest safety. This role also involves supervising kitchen and dining hall support staff, maintaining inventory control, and managing meal timing and quality to meet Wolfoods’ high standards.

Effective communication is central to this position. The chef must interact professionally with campers, staff members, counselors, directors, and parents, providing clear information about food ingredients and handling special dietary requests with care and confidence. Leadership skills are essential, as is the ability to coach and delegate tasks within a fast-paced, dynamic kitchen environment. Wolfoods expects chefs to be self-reliant, proactive, and committed to continuous improvement, embodying the company's standards of service and quality.

This unique opportunity suits culinary professionals eager to contribute to a meaningful mission that combines nutrition, education, and community engagement in a seasonal summer setting. Candidates who thrive in busy kitchens, enjoy teaching and learning, and want to be part of a supportive team culture will find this position fulfilling. With a competitive compensation package including bonuses, and living accommodations provided, Wolfoods offers a rewarding summer experience for the right candidates dedicated to enhancing camp food culture with excellence and care.
