Job Description
Wolfoods, Inc. is a pioneering food service company specializing in operating summer camp kitchens across the United States from May to September. Unlike the conventional camp food model often associated with freezer-to-table fare, Wolfoods elevates the dining experience by offering home-style scratch cooking with a focus on freshness, nutrition, and flavor. The company partners with camps that are committed to providing campers with healthy, delicious, and balanced meals, championing the concept of "Camp Cuisine" rather than just typical camp food. This innovative approach integrates the importance of balanced diets and green initiatives, making every meal both nourishing and environmentally conscious.
At the heart of Wolfoods' culinary philosophy is their dedication to freshness and variety. Every menu includes freshly baked items prepared on-site by professional bakers, ensuring quality and deliciousness in every bite. To enhance the camper dining experience, Wolfoods offers specialty bars such as the Morning Fruit and Yogurt Bar at breakfast and diverse Salad Bars during lunch and dinner. Moreover, Wolfoods' expertise extends to accommodating a wide array of special diets, including kosher, nut-free, gluten-free, and vegan options. This personalized care ensures that every camper's dietary needs are met with professionalism and compassion. Wolfoods also positions itself as a platform for educating campers on nutrition and cultural cuisine through a variety of food choices from different global traditions, fostering a joyful and inclusive food environment.
This summer, Wolfoods seeks experienced, motivated, and capable Bakers/Pastry Chefs to join their dynamic culinary teams at various camp sites nationwide. This is a hands-on, demanding position requiring leadership, precision, and a passion for quality food production. All culinary staff members live on-site at the camp location, with room, board, and travel assistance provided, facilitating a fully immersive and supportive working environment. The role demands flawless execution of the Wolfoods Camp Food Service Program, ensuring accurate service timing, correct food quantity, and consistent food quality for all meal periods and special requests in a fast-paced camp environment.
Bakers/Pastry Chefs in this role must be adept at skilled scratch-made food production and capable of supervising and coaching support kitchen and dining hall staff. The ability to communicate professionally and effectively with diverse groups—including children, exchange students, camp directors, managers, counselors, and other dining staff—is essential. Candidates will need a keen sense of urgency to meet the high standards set by Wolfoods and provide answers to all culinary-related inquiries in line with company service guidelines.
In addition to baking, the role involves managing inventory, maintaining health department sanitation standards, assisting with special diet preparation, and handling complex baking needs such as specialized decorating and recipe development. Supervisory responsibilities may include managing bakery personnel and occasionally acting as kitchen supervisor in the absence of senior staff. The ideal candidate embraces a teaching and learning culture and thrives in a team-oriented environment, adapting to the rustic, rural living conditions at camp sites for the summer season.
Wolfoods offers a comprehensive employment package including a competitive salary, a bonus system, room and board, transportation expense assistance, and seasonal summer contracts. This opportunity is perfect for professionals looking for a summer seasonal role that challenges their skills in a high-volume production kitchen and offers the reward of being part of a close-knit team and community. Those who join Wolfoods contribute to an evolving concept of camp food that values quality, nutrition, and culinary education above all else.
