Job Description

WOLFoods, Inc. is a pioneering company in the summer camp culinary industry, operating kitchens across the United States from May through September. Known for revolutionizing traditional camp food, WOLFoods emphasizes home-style scratch cooking over standard freezer-to-table offerings. By partnering with camps devoted to providing campers with healthy, fresh, and delicious meals, WOLFoods has successfully transformed the typical camp food experience into what they proudly call "Camp Cuisine." The company’s commitment extends beyond taste, as they focus on educating campers about balanced diets and green initiatives, making each meal a learning opportunity about nutrition and sustainability. The menus are diverse, reflecting various cultures through a wide range of fresh and wholesome dishes. Campers enjoy freshly baked goods prepared onsite by professional bakers and pastry chefs, fresh fruit and yogurt bars at breakfast, and salad bars during lunch and dinner. Care and accommodation are paramount; campers with special dietary needs receive attentive, personalized service. WOLFoods is experienced in managing multiple dietary preferences, including kosher, nut-free, gluten-free, and vegan options. The company operates with a strong commitment to equal employment opportunity, ensuring a diverse and inclusive workforce.

The Baker/Pastry Chef role at WOLFoods is a hands-on, demanding summer position that requires operating in a fast-paced, high-volume commercial kitchen within a camp environment. This role is critical to flawlessly executing the WOLFoods Camp Food Service Program and maintaining the highest standards of quality and service. All culinary staff live onsite at the camp during the summer season, with accommodation, meals, and travel assistance provided. The position demands exceptional cooking skills, leadership capability, and the ability to manage both people and processes efficiently. Bakers and pastry chefs must consistently produce scratch-made bakery items, adhering strictly to standardized recipes and timing schedules to meet meal service demands. Leadership responsibilities include supervising bakery team members, training staff, managing inventory, and ensuring that the kitchen and bakery areas comply with health and safety regulations.

Communication is an essential part of the role, involving interaction not only with the kitchen staff but also with campers, counselors, camp directors, and management personnel. The candidate must maintain clean and comfortable environments while responding effectively to service and culinary inquiries according to WOLFoods standards. Adaptability and urgency are key, as the pace of camp kitchen service can be intense and requires quick decision-making and proactive problem-solving.

The ideal candidate is someone seeking a seasonal opportunity during the summer months, who enjoys challenges associated with high-volume production kitchens, and who is excited about joining and contributing to a dynamic community-oriented team. They must be able to relocate for the season to rustic camp locations and be comfortable with communal living arrangements. The role requires physical stamina to stand for long hours, lift heavy weights, and work in environments with varying temperatures. Certification in ServSafe Allergens (provided by the company) is mandatory before camp starts. This position offers a competitive salary, seasonal contracts, a bonus system, and benefits including room, board, and transportation assistance, making it an attractive opportunity for motivated culinary professionals aiming to make a meaningful impact in the summer camp food service sector.
