The NS leadership team is focused on upholding the highest standards in food safety, sanitation, personnel management, program promotion, and customer service. This team works collaboratively to implement strategic plans that enhance food service quality, increase student participation, and comply with local, state, and federal regulations including USDA, OSHA and HACCP guidelines.\n\nThe position of Nutrition Services Supervisor offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the leadership and daily operations of the Nutrition Services unit within the Saint Paul Public Schools. This full-time, 12-month role involves supervising and coordinating the activities of Nutrition Services staff including supervisors and assistants across multiple school sites. The supervisor is entrusted with maintaining regulatory compliance, ensuring the delivery of safe and nutritious food, and fostering positive workplace culture by coaching and assessing employees regularly.\n\nKey responsibilities include managing employee evaluations, work schedules, and assignments; developing and managing innovative food service projects; acting as a liaison with Human Resources regarding employee work restrictions; and driving initiatives that promote program participation and financial accountability. As part of the NS Leadership Team, the supervisor actively participates in strategic planning and quality improvement activities, contributing insights and recommendations to enhance operational effectiveness. This role also involves direct engagement with students and school administrators to support Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) and to honor the diverse perspectives of students in program implementation.\n\nCandidates for this position must be well-versed in food safety regulations, possess strong supervisory and communication skills, and maintain relevant certifications such as the Minnesota Department of Health Food Manager Certificate. A valid Minnesota Class D driver's license and reliable transportation are required to allow travel between district sites. The pay range for this position is $78,361 to $100,179 annually, with a maximum hiring step of step 8 (Eight). Job Requirements
- Must possess a valid Minnesota Class D driver's license with no suspensions or revocations within the two-year period prior to the date of appointment (suspensions for parking related offenses excluded)
- A reliable means of transportation is required in order to travel to multiple sites
- A Minnesota Department of Health Food Manager's Certification will be required within three months of appointment
- Two year degree in culinary arts, dietetics or a related field or two years of college course work in nutrition or a related field and three years of experience in the supervision of food preparation in a school cafeteria, restaurant or other food service environment or high school diploma or G.E.D and five years of experience in the supervision of food preparation in a school cafeteria, restaurant or other food service environment
Job Qualifications

- Considerable knowledge of federal and state regulations and guidelines relating to food safety, security, sanitation, health and related areas, USDA program regulations, OSHA and HACCP guidelines
- Considerable knowledge of food preparation and serving techniques and practices
- Considerable knowledge of standard equipment and tools for food service operations
- Considerable knowledge of management and supervisory techniques
- Considerable ability to observe and evaluate the work of others

Job Duties
- Serve as part of the NS leadership team

- Conduct regular visits of schools or other district buildings

- Interpret and ensure the implementation of applicable laws, rules and regulations relating to proper food handling, safety and sanitation, preparation, and service
- Provide tools, resources, and communication to staff to ensure expectations are met
- Monitor all production and food service areas to ensure compliance with established Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP)
