Job Requirements

  • ability to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds regularly and occasionally up to 50 pounds
  • physical capability to perform tasks like stooping, kneeling, crouching, climbing stairs or ladders occasionally
  • ability to maintain close vision and peripheral vision

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • serves as designated back-up for kitchen manager with computer work and data entry
  • computes and maintains accurate inventory and student meal count records
  • prepares school meals including cutting, cooking, and food preparation
  • prepares food for the following day
  • serves student meals according to prescribed portion sizes
  • assists in maintaining quality and portion control of all food served
  • checks food temperatures to ensure standards before serving
  • operates kitchen equipment including dishwasher, slicer, and mixer
  • assists in maintaining equipment care and kitchen sanitation
  • ensures a safe and clean work area
  • shuts off, breaks down, and sanitizes designated kitchen areas and items
  • checks freezer, refrigerator and dishwasher temperatures
  • sets up, cleans and stores food serving equipment
  • reports safety and sanitary hazards immediately to supervisor
  • maintains high standard of personal cleanliness and grooming
  • follows Federal Child Nutrition Program guidelines and assists with compliance
  • completes appropriate logs, forms, and paperwork as required
  • assists in inventory, receiving, verifying, and rotating stock
