Job Description

The Central Office Receptionist role is an integral position within a dedicated district communications and community relations department. This position supports the smooth and efficient operation of the central administration office by providing professional reception and clerical assistance under direct supervision. Employed on a 12-month contract basis with a nonexempt wage/hour status under pay grade AO 6, this position offers a consistent work schedule within the central administration. Reporting directly to an Administrator Designated, the receptionist will be involved in managing multi-line phone systems, coordinating visitor access through maintaining logs and issuing passes, and providing general clerical support to enhance office functions. Computer proficiency is key, as duties include preparing mailing labels, maintaining computerized files such as reports and employee rosters, and assisting with postal preparations. The role requires a high school diploma or GED and at least two years of clerical experience within an office setting.

The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to handle multiple interruptions while maintaining emotional control and work ethic, representing the district with professionalism and integrity. Familiarity with following written instructions, proficiency in keyboarding, and the ability to operate a multi-line phone system are essential competencies that support the efficient handling of communications. Job Duties

  • Receive and direct incoming calls, take reliable messages, and route to appropriate staff
  • Greet and direct visitors to central administration office
  • Assist public, staff, and students as needed
  • Maintain visitor log and issue visitor passes
  • Prepare mailing and labels using personal computer
  • Maintain computerized files including reports, employee roster, and mailing lists
  • Sort, distribute, or deliver mail, messages, and other documents
  • Assist with preparation of materials for mailing including preparing labels and stuffing envelopes
  • Provide clerical assistance as needed
  • Maintain confidentiality
