The Wine Cellar Team Lead role is a pivotal position within AJ's Fine Foods, designed for an individual with a true passion for wines, beers, and liquors. This role is responsible for effectively directing and supervising all functions and personnel activities within the wine cellar to meet the sales and customer service goals set forth by AJ's Fine Foods. The candidate will be expected to maintain an appealing, well-stocked, and highly organized wine cellar, ensuring that customers receive expert guidance and a memorable shopping experience.

In this fast-paced and customer-focused environment, the Wine Cellar Team Lead plays a key role in engaging customers, offering knowledgeable product information, and creating pleasant buying experiences through personalized service. Beyond managing inventory and pricing, the Team Lead is tasked with planning and hosting tastings and special events that highlight the store's wine and liquor offerings, enhancing the brand's community presence. Additionally, this role demands a commitment to compliance with all state liquor laws, health regulations, and appropriate retail standards. Job Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age
  • Must be 21 years of age for any position that serves alcohol
  • Ability to safely stand, sit, lift up to 50 lbs, push, bend, walk, use keyboard and telephone for extended periods
  • Prior retail or wine cellar experience preferred
  • Must have availability to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays
  • Ability to manage and lead a team effectively
  • Must provide reliable transportation if needed
  • For internal transfer, current leader endorsement required
  • Rehire approval by HRBP required

Job Qualifications

  • Passion for wines, beer, and liquors
  • Proven leadership or supervisory experience in retail or hospitality
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Ability to plan and execute tastings and special events
  • Knowledge of inventory management and product pricing
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to comply with state liquor laws and retail regulations
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment

Job Duties

  • Maintaining a positive and friendly attitude towards customers and fellow team members
  • Engaging with customers through smiles and greetings, offering product information, providing selling suggestions and active sampling (when appropriate) and always giving a genuine thank you
  • Planning and hosting tastings and special functions
  • Providing customers with great information and suggestions concerning their purchase of wine cellar product offerings
  • Monitoring and using correct product pricing, shelf tags and signage
  • Keeping clean, attractive and beautifully stocked wine cellars
  • Ordering, pricing and stocking all products in the wine cellar including wine, beer, liquor and cigars
  • Ensuring compliance with all state liquor laws, and health department and weights and measures guidelines
  • Performing all other related duties as assigned
