We are currently seeking a passionate and talented Gourmet Chef to join our dynamic team. The Gourmet Chef will be instrumental in preparing, displaying, and merchandising all bistro foods available for sale, encompassing both fresh prepared and packaged items. This position requires a creative culinary professional who brings enthusiasm and expertise to menu development, food preparation, and presentation, helping to enhance our offerings for individual meals and catered events alike.

As a Gourmet Chef, you will collaborate closely with the deli/bistro team lead and the executive chef to meet and exceed sales, quality, and customer service objectives. Your creativity and passion will be essential in planning and developing innovative menus that excite and satisfy our customers, spanning offerings for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. You will also play a crucial role in supporting catered events, managing all aspects from initial planning through successful execution, ensuring each event meets our high standards and client expectations.

Customer interaction is a key part of this role. You will provide excellent customer service by engaging with guests, offering product knowledge, making selling suggestions, and warmly thanking customers. This friendly and professional demeanor helps maintain a positive atmosphere and drives customer loyalty. Moreover, you will be responsible for upholding all health and safety standards in compliance with state and local regulations, contributing to a safe and sanitary environment.

The position demands physical stamina as it involves standing, sitting, lifting up to 50 pounds, pushing, walking, bending, and frequent keyboarding and telephone use. This dynamic, fast-paced environment requires a reliable, friendly individual who excels under pressure and appreciates the importance of teamwork and communication with colleagues across several departments, including deli/bistro and catering teams.

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • work with deli/bistro team lead and or executive chef to achieve sales product quality and presentation and customer service goals established for the department
  • plan develop and present various menus using expertise and creativity
  • answer phones and take special orders
  • maintain a positive and friendly attitude towards customers and fellow team members
  • engage with customers through smiles greetings offering product information providing selling suggestions and active sampling and giving a genuine thank you
  • facilitate catered events from their beginning to a happy conclusion
  • work with catering director and executive chef on menu planning and facilitating production of catering menus to ensure profitability and company standards
