Job Description
Price Chopper is a leading grocery retail chain known for its commitment to quality products, exceptional customer service, and community engagement. Operating numerous stores, Price Chopper has established itself as a trusted destination for fresh groceries, household essentials, and specialty items. The company prides itself on creating a welcoming shopping environment that prioritizes customer satisfaction and convenience. As a firm believer in supporting local communities and sustainable practices, Price Chopper continuously invests in employee development, modern store technologies, and efficient supply chain operations to ensure a seamless shopping experience for every customer.
We are currently seeking a Back Door Operator to join our dynamic team at Price Chopper. This role is essential to maintaining the smooth operation of the store’s receiving area, which includes handling vendor, DSD (Direct Store Delivery), and warehouse deliveries. The Back Door Operator is responsible for ensuring that all deliveries are received promptly and accurately, all back room areas remain neat, clean, and well-organized according to 5S standards, and that stock levels on shelves and promotional displays are maintained. A large part of the role also involves adhering strictly to company policies, especially those related to billing, invoicing, damage processing, safety, and sanitation standards. This position demands a proactive individual who can provide fast, friendly, and efficient service not only to customers inside the store but also to internal trade partners and vendors.
The hourly pay range for this position is $15.75 to $20.00, reflecting the importance of the back door operation to the overall success of the retail unit. This is a full-time role with opportunities to engage with multiple departments and learn the intricacies of retail back-end operations. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment and possess strong communication skills, basic computer knowledge, and a commitment to quality service. Responsibilities also include utilizing DEX equipment for billing and invoicing, processing CGO markdowns, assisting with inventory cycle counts, and addressing any damages or reclaims according to corporate guidelines.
The position emphasizes maintaining high standards of safety and sanitation in compliance with corporate and state regulations. The individual filling this role must efficiently manage time and multitask to cover both the back door operations and stock the sales floor as necessary. A warm and professional demeanor is critical as the Back Door Operator is expected to greet, acknowledge, and thank every customer and internal partner encountered during the workday. Price Chopper offers a supportive work environment where team members are encouraged to grow and succeed within the company. This role is a great entry point for individuals looking to develop a career in retail operations, logistics, or inventory management while contributing directly to customer satisfaction and store profitability.
