The Baker position at Bashas' is crafted for individuals passionate about baking and delivering exceptional customer service. Bakers at Bashas' are responsible for producing a wide range of high-quality bakery products following Bashas' recipes. This role demands a keen eye for food safety and sanitation, meticulous attention to detail in production and merchandising, and a friendly demeanor to engage effectively with customers. The role requires operating in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high standards for product quality and safety. Bakers handle mixing, weighing, proofing, baking, frying, decorating, and merchandising bakery products such as cakes, cupcakes, breads, cookies, and sweet rolls. They also manage inventory, assist with ordering supplies, and ensure proper signage and product pricing are maintained. The position involves physical activities such as standing for long periods, lifting up to 50 lbs, bending, and walking. Job Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age
  • Must be 21 years of age for any position that serves alcohol
  • Ability to stand for extended periods
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
  • Ability to work flexible hours including weekends
  • Ability to follow safety and sanitation guidelines
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to communicate effectively
  • For internal transfers, current leader recommendation required
  • May accept part-time if full-time is unavailable
  • Rehires must be approved by HRBP

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous bakery or food production experience preferred
  • Basic knowledge of food safety and sanitation
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Good customer service and communication skills
  • Ability to follow recipes and instructions accurately
  • Basic math skills for weighing and measuring ingredients
  • Ability to operate bakery equipment safely

Job Duties

  • Mixing, weighing, proofing, baking, frying, decorating, finishing and merchandising quality bakery products using Bashas' recipes
  • Loading and unloading the oven, knowing the proper temperatures and duration to bake all varieties of product
  • Scaling cakes and cupcakes, ice sweet rolls, breads and cookies, etc
  • Assisting in the ordering and receiving of bakery products and supplies
  • Controlling product inventory and out of stocks, shrink and supplies
  • Using scale printer machine, ensuring weights and pricing are correct
  • Understanding the importance and the monitoring of product pricing, signage, and placement as well as the use of product shelf tags and shelf signage
  • Keeping a clean, neat and orderly bench, production area, storage area, and walk-in coolers and freezers
  • Helping in the wrapping, boxing, weighing, slicing, finishing, and stocking bakery department products, rotating them as necessary to ensure quality and safety
  • Displaying goods following bakery department and/or merchandising guidelines
  • Helping decorators with personalization of cakes and icing of cakes, donuts, sweet rolls and etc
  • All other related duties as assigned
