The position available is for a Gourmet Chef who plays a vital role in the deli and bistro department. The Gourmet Chef is not only responsible for the preparation and presentation of food but also plays an important role in merchandising and customer engagement. This role requires an individual with creativity and passion for food and cooking, capable of working alongside a team lead and executive chef to meet sales and quality goals. The Gourmet Chef contributes by planning and developing menus that highlight their culinary expertise and ensuring product quality is maintained at all times. Essential to the role is the ability to communicate effectively with customers and team members alike, actively participating in customer service through direct interaction, making selling suggestions, and creating active sampling opportunities.
Furthermore, the Gourmet Chef is involved in facilitating catered events from inception to completion, working closely with the catering director and executive chef to ensure menus are profitable and meet company standards. Strong communication and salesmanship skills are required for interacting with clients and vendors. Compliance with all relevant health and safety regulations is mandatory, along with food cost control and waste reduction through production monitoring and reworks. This role demands both physical and mental stamina as employees may be standing, sitting, lifting up to 50 lbs, pushing, walking, bending, and using a keyboard or telephone for extended periods. Job Requirements
- Must be 18 years of age
- Must be 21 years of age for any position serving alcohol
- Ability to safely work in a fast-paced environment

Job Duties
- Working with the deli/bistro team lead and/or executive chef to achieve sales, product quality and presentation and customer service goals
- Planning, developing and presenting various menus using expertise and creativity
- Answering phones and taking special orders
- Maintaining a positive and friendly attitude towards customers and team members
- Engaging with customers through smiles and greetings, offering product information, selling suggestions and active sampling
- Facilitating catered events from beginning to happy conclusion
- Ensuring compliance with state, county and local health department and weights and measures policies
