Job Description
Fortrex and Safe Foods are leading companies specializing in food safety solutions across North America, with over 10,000 dedicated team members working in more than 250 plants. Founded with a rich history spanning over 50 years, these companies have built long-lasting partnerships in the food processing industry by delivering reliable and innovative sanitation and chemistry services designed to protect the food supply. Their corporate headquarters is located in Atlanta, GA, but their reach extends nationwide, emphasizing a commitment to food safety that impacts consumers, plant team members, and customers alike. The mission of these leaders in food safety is clear: to protect what matters by eliminating risks associated with food production, ensuring that families everywhere can enjoy meals without fear. They operate with integrity, uphold ethical standards, and deliver on promises, while fostering a culture built on teamwork and collaboration. They are dedicated to advancing a safer future through innovation, sustainable practices, and cost-effective safety solutions.
The Food Safety Sanitor role is critical within this organization, focusing on maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness and safety in food production environments. This position involves performing thorough sanitation labor by following the established eight-step sanitation process, ensuring that all procedures comply with safety policies and food safety regulations. The Food Safety Sanitor will work closely with team leads and management to enforce proper sanitation protocols, frequently handle and lift hoses, equipment, and chemical containers, and utilize required personal protective equipment (PPE) such as gloves, face shields, eye goggles, aprons, boots, and safety glasses. Candidates must be prepared to work in environments featuring temperature fluctuations, including hot, cold, and wet conditions, and stand, lift, and crouch for extended periods during night shifts. This role also requires strict adherence to safety measures such as the Lock-out Tag-out (LOTO) procedures to prevent accidents during maintenance and cleaning. This is a hands-on position that demands meticulous attention to detail and a strong safety mindset to ensure that the food processing plant meets stringent sanitation standards. The position offers robust benefits including medical, dental and vision insurance, life insurance, short-term and long-term disability coverage, retirement plans, paid holidays and vacation, an employee assistance program, and ongoing training and development opportunities, reflecting the company’s commitment to the wellbeing and advancement of its team members. Fortrex and Safe Foods promote equal opportunity employment and provide reasonable accommodations for qualified individuals with disabilities, supporting a diverse and inclusive workplace where safety, health, and ethical business practices are priorities. Individuals interested in safeguarding the food supply while contributing to a trusted industry leader are encouraged to apply for this essential role and join a company dedicated to excellence and innovation in food safety.
