Job Description

FedEx Freight, Inc. is a prominent leader in the freight transportation industry, known for its reliable and efficient freight services across the United States. As a subsidiary of FedEx Corporation, FedEx Freight specializes in less-than-truckload (LTL) shipping and logistics solutions. The company operates an extensive network of service centers, offering expedited freight pickup and delivery tailored to meet the diverse needs of its customers. With a commitment to customer satisfaction, cutting-edge technology, and a large fleet of vehicles, FedEx Freight ensures timely and secure freight transportation services. FedEx Freight is recognized for its inclusive work environment and dedication to equal opportunity employment, providing career growth and support for veterans and individuals with disabilities.

The position available is for a professional driver tasked with picking up and delivering freight between FedEx Freight Service Centers and customers, while supporting the sales process. This role entails operation of tractor-trailer combinations, including doubles and triples where applicable, as well as straight trucks. Drivers are responsible for performing daily pre-trip equipment inspections to guarantee safety and compliance with transportation regulations. Additional responsibilities include hooking and unhooking trailers, handling freight using motorized and manual equipment like forklifts and pallet jacks, and securely fastening freight inside trailers using tools such as straps and pallets.

In addition, drivers will verify and complete required documentation accurately, comply with hazardous material regulations, and may be involved in collecting payments for freight charges. Communication skills are essential for following dispatch instructions, addressing any delays or equipment issues, and engaging with customers to understand their pickup and delivery needs while proactively seeking additional business opportunities. Drivers may also assist with chaining vehicle tires in adverse weather or perform duties typically assigned to road drivers or dock employees as operationally necessary.

This role demands a high level of responsibility and adherence to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and company policies. The starting rate of pay is $31.26 per hour, reflecting the professional expertise and commitment required. The job offers an opportunity to work independently or as part of a team, and requires physical stamina for tasks such as lifting heavy freight as well as flexibility to work varied hours based on operational needs.

FedEx Freight values the importance of safety, customer service, and professionalism, making this an excellent career opportunity for experienced drivers seeking a reputable employer with a strong emphasis on compliance and customer satisfaction. The company provides a supportive and dynamic work environment where employee contributions are valued and recognized. Prospective applicants should be prepared to meet stringent driving standards, engage in continuous learning and development, and demonstrate excellent communication skills while contributing to the overall success and growth of FedEx Freight.
