Job Description
FedEx Freight is a leading provider in the freight transportation industry, renowned for its commitment to excellence, reliability, and customer-focused service. As a subsidiary of FedEx Corporation, one of the world's largest logistics companies, FedEx Freight specializes in less-than-truckload (LTL) shipping across the United States and Canada. The company operates a vast network of service centers and employs a dedicated team focused on delivering freight swiftly and efficiently, supporting various industries and businesses. Known for fostering a culture of safety, integrity, and teamwork, FedEx Freight offers employees comprehensive training, competitive compensation, and opportunities for career advancement.
The position available is for a Commercial Truck Driver, responsible for pick-up and delivery of freight between FedEx Freight service centers and its customers. The role is fundamental to maintaining smooth logistics and timely deliveries within the company’s distribution network. The starting rate of pay for this full-time position is $31.26 per hour, reflecting the company’s industry-competitive compensation standards. This role requires operating tractor-trailer combinations including doubles and triples where applicable, and straight trucks, ensuring compliance with all relevant safety and operational regulations.
Drivers must conduct daily pre-trip inspections, handle freight with appropriate equipment such as forklifts and pallet jacks, secure freight safely for transport, and maintain accurate documentation for shipments. Furthermore, the position entails providing excellent customer service by communicating effectively with dispatch and customers, soliciting additional business opportunities, and supporting the overall selling process. This role may also require multi-tasking by performing duties typically assigned to road drivers or dock employees when operational needs dictate.
Candidates need to possess a Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with double/triple, hazardous materials, and tank endorsements. Experience is required, either a minimum of one year within the past three years or successful completion of FedEx Freight’s Driver Development Course. The job involves exposure to varied weather conditions, noise, vibrations, dust, diesel fumes, and the handling of hazardous materials under DOT regulations. Flexibility in working hours is necessary due to operational demands. This position offers an engaging and dynamic work environment for motivated individuals who can work independently or as part of a team, prioritize safety at all times, and contribute to FedEx Freight’s mission of dependable freight transportation.
