The role available is for a Class A CDL Truck Driver who will play a critical role in the transportation and delivery of freight between FedEx service centers and customers. This position requires someone who can expertly operate tractor-trailer combinations, including doubles and triples where applicable, and straight trucks. Performance of daily pre-trip and safety inspections to ensure equipment reliability is a core responsibility. The driver will handle freight using various motorized and manual tools such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks, and secure freight appropriately to ensure safe transport. Daily tasks also include the collection of freight charges, maintaining accurate documentation, and communication with dispatchers and customers to address delivery needs and solicit potential new business.
The work environment involves driving on all types of roads and weather conditions, exposure to noise, dust, diesel fumes, and compliance with hazardous material regulations. The position demands physical capabilities including lifting freight up to 100 pounds, as well as the ability to sit, bend, and climb for extended periods. Drivers are expected to meet stringent regulatory requirements, including DOT regulations and maintaining a clean driving record. Additional duties may include chaining tires and performing job functions of road drivers or dock employees as operational needs dictate. This role offers an hourly pay rate starting at $31.26.

Job Requirements
- Class A commercial driver's license with appropriate endorsements
- One year recent experience or completion of driver development course
- Acceptable motor vehicle record
- Meet DOT regulatory requirements
- Obtain hazardous materials endorsement within 120 days
- Ability to perform physical duties including lifting 100 pounds
- Ability to communicate and follow instructions
- Ability to work independently and with a team

Job Qualifications
- Must possess a class A commercial driver's license (CDL) with double/triple, hazardous materials and tank endorsements
- Must have one year experience within the most recent three years or completion of FedEx Freight Driver Development Course
- Must possess an acceptable motor vehicle record based on hiring standards
- Must meet all Department of Transportation regulatory requirements under section 391 of the Federal Motor Carrier regulations
- Must meet Long Combination Vehicles qualification and certification standards if operating in specified states
- Ability to count and perform basic math, with or without a calculator
- Basic written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to lift and carry hand freight up to 100 pounds
- Ability to sit, bend, twist, squat, climb in and out of truck
- Ability to follow instructions and complete required training
- Ability to work independently or as a team member
Job Duties
- Operate tractor-trailer combination, including doubles and triples, and/or straight trucks
- Perform daily pre-trip and safety inspections on equipment
- Hook/unhook trailers and converter dollies
- Perform freight handling using appropriate motorized and manual equipment
- Secure freight inside trailers using appropriate tools and supplies
- Recoup/repair damaged freight when necessary
- Verify and complete required documentation and reports
- Comply with hazardous material regulations and procedures
- Collect cash or checks for freight charges and maintain required documentation
- Follow dispatch instructions and communicate with dispatch as required
- Communicate with customers to determine pick-up or delivery needs and solicit additional business
- Demonstrate internal and external customer service
- Ask for additional business from customers and provide leads to sales
- May be required to perform chaining of vehicle tires
- May perform duties of road driver or dock employee as necessary
- Comply with laws, regulations, company policies, and procedures
- Perform other duties as required
