Job Description
FedEx Freight, Inc. is a leading provider in the freight transportation industry, renowned for its commitment to reliable, efficient, and timely delivery services across the United States. As part of the FedEx family, FedEx Freight specializes in less-than-truckload (LTL) freight solutions, connecting service centers and customers with an extensive network that ensures the smooth flow of goods. Their reputation for quality service, innovation, and employee support distinguishes them in the competitive logistics field. The company is dedicated to fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace, upholding equal employment opportunities, and providing comprehensive benefits and career growth opportunities to its team members.
FedEx Freight is currently seeking dedicated and skilled Commercial Drivers to join their team. This employment opportunity offers a competitive starting pay range of $32.66 to $37.81 per hour, with additional mileage pay for certain linehaul duties. The role primarily involves picking up and delivering freight between service centers and customers, supporting the company's selling process, and promoting excellent customer service. Drivers may operate tractor-trailer combinations including doubles and triples where applicable, as well as straight trucks. This position requires adherence to strict safety standards, including daily pre-trip inspections and compliance with hazardous material regulations.
The chosen candidates will play a crucial part in ensuring that freight is handled efficiently and safely. Responsibilities include securing freight inside trailers, performing freight handling using equipment such as forklifts and pallet jacks, and maintaining accurate documentation throughout the transportation process. Drivers must communicate effectively with dispatch and customers, assisting in identifying additional business opportunities during deliveries. Due to the nature of the job, physical demands such as lifting freight weighing up to 100 pounds and the ability to perform vehicle tire chaining are part of the role. This position requires working in various weather conditions and exposure to noise, dust, diesel fumes, and potentially hazardous materials. FedEx Freight values employees who are capable of working independently or as part of a team, demonstrating integrity, safety consciousness, and commitment to job duties.
This role also requires drivers to hold a class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with endorsements for double/triple trailers, hazardous materials, and tank vehicles, along with a clean Motor Vehicle Record that meets hiring standards. Candidates should have at least one year of recent experience or have successfully completed the FedEx Freight Driver Development Course. The job offers a supportive environment that encourages professional development, with benefits including health, dental, and vision insurance, paid time off, a 401(k) retirement savings plan, bonus potential, tuition reimbursement, adoption assistance, paid parental leave, bereavement leave, vacations and holidays for full-time employees. FedEx Freight is committed to providing a safe and fair workplace with competitive pay and ample growth opportunities for qualified drivers.
