Job Description

FedEx Freight, Inc. is a leading freight transportation company and subsidiary of FedEx Corporation, specializing in less-than-truckload (LTL) freight services across various regions in the United States. Known for its reliable logistics and customer service, FedEx Freight plays a crucial role in connecting businesses to both local and national markets. With a commitment to safety, efficiency, and innovation, FedEx Freight offers a dynamic work environment where employees contribute to the smooth operation of freight delivery and the broader supply chain.

The position available is for a Class A CDL Truck Driver responsible for the pick-up and delivery of freight between Service Centers and customers while supporting the sales process. This role is essential in ensuring timely and safe transportation of various freight loads, including doubles and triples where applicable, using tractor-trailer combinations or straight trucks. The starting rate of pay is $31.26 per hour, reflecting the company's commitment to offering competitive compensation. The employment type is full-time with varied hours depending on operational needs.

Truck drivers in this role must perform daily pre-trip and safety inspections, secure freight inside trailers using appropriate tools, and handle freight with equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks. Drivers are expected to complete required documentation and reports accurately, comply with hazardous material regulations, and communicate effectively with dispatch and customers. There is also an emphasis on internal and external customer service, including soliciting additional business and providing leads to sales teams. This job requires physical stamina to lift and carry freight weighing up to 100 pounds, and the ability to operate in various weather conditions and road types. Drivers may also be required to chain vehicle tires and perform duties on the road or dock as operationally necessary.

Candidates must have a valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with double/triple, hazardous materials, and tank endorsements. An automatic transmission CDL restriction is allowed. Applicants should have at least one year of experience within the recent three years or have completed the FedEx Freight Driver Development Course. Additionally, candidates must have an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) and meet all Department of Transportation regulatory requirements. Specific states require drivers to meet Long Combination Vehicle qualification and certification standards.

This role involves exposure to noise, vibration, dust, diesel fumes, and hazardous materials shipped under DOT regulations. Flexibility in work hours and the ability to work independently or as part of a team are essential. FedEx Freight is an Equal Opportunity Employer committed to diversity and inclusion, providing support to individuals with disabilities throughout the application process.
