Job Description
FedEx Freight, Inc. is a leading provider of time-definite, reliable freight transportation services across North America. As part of the broader FedEx Corporation, FedEx Freight specializes in less-than-truckload (LTL) freight services, connecting businesses and customers with efficient delivery solutions. The company is well-known for its commitment to safety, innovation, and customer satisfaction, making it a prominent player in the logistics and transportation industry. FedEx Freight operates an extensive network of service centers, utilizing advanced equipment and a dedicated workforce to ensure timely and secure freight delivery. The organization strongly emphasizes equal employment opportunities, inclusivity, and support for disabled individuals and veterans, reflecting its commitment to a diverse and fair workplace environment.
The position available is for a Commercial Truck Driver, offering a starting pay rate of $31.26 per hour. This role involves picking up and delivering freight between FedEx service centers and customers, supporting the company’s selling and operational processes. The driver will be responsible for operating large tractor-trailer combinations, including doubles and triples where applicable, as well as straight trucks. Daily responsibilities include conducting thorough pre-trip safety inspections, managing freight handling with appropriate motorized and manual equipment such as forklifts and pallet jacks, securing freight inside trailers, and ensuring all required documentation is accurately completed.
This role requires strict adherence to Department of Transportation regulations, hazardous material handling procedures, and company policies to maintain safety and compliance. The driver will frequently communicate with dispatch and customers, helping to determine delivery needs, provide excellent customer service, and seek opportunities for additional business. Candidates must be prepared to perform physically demanding tasks like lifting freight weighing up to 100 pounds and manage the operation of vehicles in various weather and road conditions.
FedEx Freight offers a dynamic work environment where teamwork and independent work skills are both highly valued. Drivers may also be required to take on duties typically assigned to road or dock employees to maintain operational flexibility. The company provides robust training programs, including the FedEx Freight Driver Development Course, for those with less than the required driving experience, ensuring all drivers meet safety and performance standards. This position promises an engaging career with a reputable logistics company that strives for excellence and growth in the freight industry.
