Job Description
FedEx Freight is a leading transportation and logistics company specializing in less-than-truckload (LTL) freight services across North America. As a major division of FedEx Corporation, FedEx Freight operates an extensive network of services dedicated to delivering high-quality freight solutions efficiently and reliably. Known for its commitment to customer service, operational excellence, and safety standards, FedEx Freight provides comprehensive shipping services for businesses that require timely and secure freight transport. With its fleet of advanced vehicles and a strong emphasis on driver safety and training, FedEx Freight supports the critical supply chains of numerous industries nationwide.
FedEx Freight is currently seeking qualified professional drivers to join its team as Tractor-Trailer Drivers. The position is a full-time role offering a starting hourly wage of $31.26. This role is essential in ensuring the timely pick-up and delivery of freight between FedEx service centers and customers, supporting overall sales efforts and maintaining excellent service communication. The Tractor-Trailer Driver will operate various types of commercial motor vehicles, including tractor-trailer combinations such as doubles and triples where applicable, as well as straight trucks, to transport freight safely and efficiently.
This position requires drivers to perform comprehensive equipment inspections daily to ensure vehicle safety, secure freight properly inside trailers, and handle freight using motorized and manual equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks. Drivers will also hook and unhook trailers and converter dollies, verify delivery documentation, and comply with all relevant hazardous materials regulations. The role involves direct interaction with customers, where drivers provide superior customer service, identify business opportunities, and communicate effectively with dispatch and sales teams. Drivers may also be tasked with performing additional duties such as chaining vehicle tires or stepping in as road drivers or dock employees when necessary to support operations.
The role demands a strong understanding of Department of Transportation regulations, an excellent driving record, physical fitness to handle freight cargo, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team. FedEx Freight emphasizes a safe and supportive working environment, encourages ongoing driver development, and ensures compliance with all relevant laws and company policies. The successful candidate will demonstrate reliability, effective communication skills, and a commitment to maintaining high safety and service standards in the fast-paced freight delivery industry.
