Job Description

AJ's Fine Foods is a well-established gourmet grocery store known for its exceptional selection of high-quality foods, wines, beers, liquors, and specialty products. With a reputation for excellent customer service and a passion for fine food and beverages, AJ's Fine Foods strives to create a welcoming environment where customers can explore a diverse selection of gourmet foods and beverages. They emphasize not only product quality but also a rich shopping experience that supports local communities and encourages food education. AJ's Fine Foods has built a loyal customer base by ensuring knowledgeable staff and offering unique in-store events that enhance customer engagement and satisfaction.

The position of Wine Cellar Team Lead at AJ's Fine Foods is designed for a passionate individual with a deep appreciation for wines, beers, liquors, and cigars. This role focuses on maintaining an appealing and well-stocked wine cellar while managing all functions and activities related to the wine cellar and its team members. It is a supervisory position that requires working closely with team members to achieve sales and customer service goals established by the company. The Wine Cellar Team Lead plays a critical role in providing excellent customer service, sharing knowledgeable recommendations, and creating a delightful shopping experience centered around the wine cellar's offerings.

In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining a positive and friendly attitude, directly engaging with customers through warm greetings, product information, selling suggestions, and appropriate tastings. You will plan and host tastings and special functions, helping to educate customers and promote products effectively. Ensuring the correct pricing, shelf tags, and signage is part of your daily duties, as well as keeping the wine cellar clean, attractive, and beautifully stocked. You will also take charge of ordering and pricing all products within the wine cellar, including wine, beer, liquor, and cigars, ensuring compliance with state liquor laws, health department regulations, and weights and measures guidelines.

This position demands physical stamina as it involves frequent standing, sitting, lifting (up to 50 pounds), pushing, keyboarding, telephone use, walking, and bending. AJ's Fine Foods offers competitive compensation paid weekly, along with a comprehensive benefits package that includes retirement benefits, medical, dental, and vision insurance for employees and eligible dependents, tuition reimbursement, scholarship opportunities for continuous education, and a store discount program. The company fosters a fun and community-oriented work environment where team members can grow their knowledge and nourish their local community.

Candidates must be at least 18 years old to apply and 21 years old for any position that involves serving alcohol. Internal transfers, promotions, and rehires must have their current leader's recommendation and may need HR approval. While part-time positions may be offered if full-time is unavailable, AJ's Fine Foods prioritizes staffing that supports both employee needs and business goals. If you have a passion for wines and a dedication to providing outstanding customer service in a dynamic retail environment, this leadership role at AJ's Fine Foods presents an exciting career opportunity with room for growth and learning.
