The role of Food Safety Sanitor at Fortrex Solutions is essential and entry-level, perfect for individuals dedicated to contributing to food safety by maintaining impeccable sanitation standards within food processing plants. As a Food Safety Sanitor, you will be responsible for executing the comprehensive eight-step sanitation process, ensuring compliance with all food safety regulations and workplace safety policies. This role involves rigorous physical activity, including lifting heavy equipment, handling sanitation chemicals while wearing personal protective equipment (PPE), standing for long periods, and working in various environments that may be wet, hot, or cold. You will be trained extensively on the correct sanitation procedures, use of lock-out tag-out systems, and safety protocols, fostering a culture of safety for yourself and your team. Job Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Ability to take direction and instruction from managers and be accountable for own actions
  • Safety awareness and attention to detail
  • Ability to work in extreme temperature fluctuations
  • Willingness to wear personal protective equipment
  • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks including lifting and standing for long periods

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Previous experience in sanitation or food safety is an advantage but not required
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions and work under supervision
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety protocols
  • Ability to work in various environmental conditions including wet, hot, or cold areas
  • Must be able to stand, lift, and crouch for long periods
  • Demonstrated ability to work well in a team environment
  • Effective communication skills

Job Duties

  • Perform the eight steps of sanitation according to company standards
  • Work cooperatively with leads and management to ensure sanitation procedures are followed
  • Frequently lift hoses, equipment, and chemical containers
  • Wear specified personal protective equipment such as gloves, face shields, goggles, aprons, boots, and safety glasses
  • Safely handle exposure to chemicals with appropriate PPE
  • Stand, lift, and crouch for extended periods, including night shifts
  • Use lock-out tag-out procedures
  • Perform other assigned duties as required
