Job Description

The hiring establishment is a grocery store operation that includes a Sushi department focused on high-quality food preparation and excellent customer service. This company is committed to providing a pleasant and efficient shopping experience for its community while maintaining high standards in merchandising, safety, and product quality. As a store that serves fresh deli and bistro food items, including sushi, it emphasizes team collaboration among its deli staff, executive chefs, and management to deliver a seamless and enjoyable customer journey.

The Sushi Team Lead role is an essential leadership position within this grocery store's Sushi department. This position is responsible for directing and supervising all activities of the Sushi section and guiding personnel to consistently meet and exceed set goals related to merchandising, sales, and customer service. The role requires a combination of hands-on operational tasks and leadership responsibilities to maintain a productive and safe working environment. The Sushi Team Lead manages inventory, supervises store staff performance, ensures compliance with food safety regulations, and maintains merchandising standards aligned with the deli and bistro sections of the store.

Working as a Sushi Team Lead involves engaging with customers actively by offering helpful product information, encouraging product sampling, and delivering friendly service, thereby fostering a positive shopping atmosphere. The role encompasses ordering necessary stock and supplies, overseeing preparation and serving of sushi items, and working closely with other store departments to coordinate efforts and enhance customer satisfaction. The Sushi Team Lead also handles direct transaction processing at the cash register and ensures accurate pricing and labeling to maintain transparency and trust with customers.

Physical demands for this position include standing for long periods, sitting, lifting and stocking items up to 50 pounds, pushing, keyboarding, telephone use, walking, and bending, which require stamina and the ability to operate in a fast-paced retail food environment effectively.

Additionally, this role offers competitive weekly compensation, retirement benefits, and comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance for employees and eligible dependents. The company supports employee growth through tuition reimbursement and scholarship opportunities for continued education, complemented by store discounts and a fun, community-focused work environment. This supportive atmosphere aims to help employees nourish their community while advancing in their careers.

Candidates must be at least 18 years old to apply and 21 years old if the position involves serving alcohol. Internal candidates seeking transfer, promotion, or rehire must be recommended by their current leader and may be required to accept part-time positions if full-time roles are unavailable. Rehires are subject to approval by Human Resources Business Partners.

Overall, the Sushi Team Lead is a pivotal role combining leadership, customer engagement, operational duties, and team collaboration within a dynamic grocery store setting that values quality, service, and employee development.
