The Pastry Chef role at AJ's is a vital position designed to support the prepared foods department while working closely with the Executive Chef. This role is integral in helping the department meet and exceed its sales and customer service objectives. The Pastry Chef takes a hands-on approach in production, merchandising, stocking, and overall food safety compliance. Job Requirements
- Must be 18 years of age
- Must have relevant pastry chef experience
- Ability to lift and stock items up to 50 lbs
- Ability to stand and work for extended periods
- Must be able to operate cash registers
- Knowledge of health department regulations
- Must have good communication skills
- For internal transfers/promotion/rehire candidates, current leader endorsement is required
- Rehires must be approved by HRBP

Job Duties
- Responsible for production, ordering, merchandising, achieving goals on sales and profits, controlling inventory and out of stocks, sanitation, shrink, supplies, equipment, and safety
- Assist with menu planning and development including creativity and experimentation with new trends and menu ideas and recipes to create AJ's exclusive pastries and expand the offerings in our Boulangeries
- Ensure compliance with heath department and weights and measures requirements
- Maintain open communication with all members of the kitchen and department manager
- Work with the Catering Director and Executive Chef on menu planning and facilitating the production of catering menus to ensure profitability, variety and AJ's quality standards
- Maintain a high degree of cleanliness throughout preparation area
- Must be able to correctly operate a cash register including proper cash handling and all forms of tender per company policy, e.g., cash, checks, credit cards ATM
