Job Description
Fortrex and Safe Foods, a division of Fortrex, are leaders in food safety solutions, specializing in contract sanitation and chemistry for the food processing industry. With over 10,000 dedicated team members throughout North America, the company maintains a significant presence with corporate headquarters in Atlanta, GA, and operations running in over 250 plants. Boasting more than 50 years of experience, Fortrex has built long-lasting partnerships by committing to the highest standards of food safety and sanitation practices. Their mission centers on protecting the food supply by eliminating risks so families everywhere can eat without fear. They emphasize service at every step to uphold the health and well-being of plant team members, consumers, and the broader community. By fostering transparency, ethical standards, team collaboration, and continuous innovation, Fortrex strives to deliver safer and more sustainable food safety solutions that benefit both their customers and the industry as a whole.
The Food Safety Sanitor role is essential in sustaining the purity and safety of food production environments. This position entails executing the eight steps of sanitation meticulously while adhering to all food safety and safety policies and procedures designated by Fortrex. The role requires cooperative work with leads and management, ensuring sanitation protocols are consistently applied to maintain high hygiene standards. Candidates will engage in physically demanding tasks that include lifting equipment, hoses, and chemical containers, and spending extended periods standing, crouching, and working under varying temperature conditions while properly wearing employer-specified personal protective equipment (PPE). Safety is paramount as the role also requires handling chemicals safely and using lock-out tag-out mechanisms when needed. This role demands a detail-oriented individual with strong safety awareness and the ability to follow direction and take accountability for work performed. Moreover, Fortrex fosters an inclusive and supportive work environment emphasizing employee wellness through comprehensive benefits and a culture that encourages collaboration and development. Shift schedules may vary depending on location, and the work environment could be wet, hot, cold, and physically challenging. This opportunity is ideal for candidates who are passionate about food safety and are ready to contribute meaningfully to protecting public health while advancing their careers in a trusted and stable company.
