Job Description
Fortrex and Safe Foods are leaders in food safety solutions, specializing in contract sanitation and chemistry services tailored for the food processing industry. With over 50 years of experience, these companies have built a reputation for creating long-lasting partnerships by delivering innovative, sustainable, and cost-efficient food safety solutions. Headquartered in Atlanta, GA, Fortrex and Safe Foods employ more than 10,000 dedicated team members who work across more than 250 plants throughout North America. This extensive network of professionals is committed to upholding the highest standards of food safety to protect consumers and ensure the integrity of the food supply.
The companies' mission centers on protecting the food supply by eliminating risks, enabling families everywhere to eat without fear. Their commitment is reflected in a core set of values aimed at safeguarding health at every step—from plant team members to consumers. These values emphasize honesty, ethical conduct, collaboration, and continuous innovation. By working together with diverse teams and customers, Fortrex and Safe Foods strive to unlock potential and drive safer futures for the food processing industry.
The Food Safety Sanitor role is a critical position within this mission-driven environment. This role involves performing sanitation labor according to established sanitation processes known as the eight steps of sanitation. The Food Safety Sanitor must be meticulous and highly safety-conscious, understanding and complying with all relevant food safety and workplace safety procedures at every stage of their work. Key responsibilities include cooperating with team leads and management to ensure sanitation protocols are fully followed, frequently lifting and handling cleaning equipment, hoses, and chemical containers while wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE).
This position requires standing, lifting, and crouching for extended periods and often involves working in challenging environmental conditions such as wet, hot, or cold settings. The candidate must be prepared to use Lock-out Tag-out (LOTO) safety procedures and handle exposure to cleaning chemicals responsibly with appropriate PPE. The role demands accountability, attention to detail, and the ability to take instruction from management to ensure a safe and sanitary working environment.
Fortrex and Safe Foods provide their employees with a strong benefits package that includes medical, dental, and vision insurance, life insurance, disability plans, retirement plans, paid holidays, vacation time, employee assistance programs, and ongoing training and development opportunities. They pride themselves on being equal opportunity employers committed to accommodating individuals with disabilities in compliance with all applicable laws. This inclusive approach strengthens their workforce and supports diverse talents committed to excellence in food safety sanitation.
By joining Fortrex and Safe Foods as a Food Safety Sanitor, you become part of an organization that is not only a leader in the industry but also genuinely dedicated to creating a safer food supply chain. Through your work, you'll contribute directly to protecting public health and supporting the company's overarching mission to advance safer future food production standards.
