Pappas Restaurants is a family-owned and operated restaurant group headquartered in Houston, Texas. Founded by brothers Chris and Harris Pappas in 1976, the company has grown to become one of the largest family-owned restaurant chains in the United States. It has over 80 locations across eight states.
The Pappas family legacy began in 1897 when H.D. Pappas emigrated from Greece to America, opening restaurants throughout Tennessee, Arkansas, and Texas. In 1945, his sons expanded the family's culinary ventures by opening Pappas Refrigeration, a restaurant equipment and supply business. The first Pappas restaurant, Dot Coffee Shop, was established in 1967 on the Gulf Freeway in south Houston.
